Official Mid-Atlantic CO Nomination Thread
I noticed pretty quickly after O-Turn became CO that the MD/Baltimore area meets/activities went way up. It got my attention. So I have to give credit to him and whoever worked with him.
I don't know him or many of the MD members that well, so this is not bias on my part. I was/am very impressed.
Remember, I'm one of those OGs.
So I've seen alot of COs and stuff come and go in Mid-A. Other areas have split regions, like CA and FL, so there is a precedent for it. The Admins may not think Mid-A is large enough to justify a split. However, after reading all the contentious posts in this thread and elsewhere, I'm starting to think a split is not a bad idea to preserve some semblance of a community. This has become a much larger issue than simply electing a new CO.
EDIT: Just saw Alex's post. I'd rather remain a woman, thank you.

Keep in mind that when/if we split, all of VA is more then welcome to attend baltimore meets, and hopefully MD will still be welcomed in VA. Beside of the OG's in VA i have not heard anything from the new members in VA. I know we are fighting for our community, however it seems that we are fighting for unity when the midva, Sova people are not fighting for a CO.
The above compounded with some of the OG's opinions are telling me that this might be the correct action to take.

Bill (BearNVA) just started - he's doing the smart thing by staying out of this thread. Bill might act like someone under the age of 25, but he is almost 40 years old - he has a lot more wisdom than you're giving him credit for.
Why are you trying to pull him into this anyway? Why do I even ask - It won't matter after 4:00 PM.

I know he just started, however that doesn't exempt him from being a leader in this matter. His wisdom would actually come in quite handy right now, same with you, mark and skip and whoever else i'm forgetting.
This is about our community, and i feel that everyone should voice their opinion, especially the older members and the community leaders.
I sent you a PM earlier apologizing if I offended you in anyway.

I appreciate your help Peter, although Bill, Bill & I have things under control, you have done this community a great injustice with your actions. I can only hope the others forgive you the way I am willing to. Have a great Holiday and hope you have a safe return.
I think the following that I posted in HAW should be heard here, This was after Alex showed his passion for the unity of Mid-A. Don't get me wrong my by comments, I would rather we stay together.

The issue is not getting resolved. Us up in Baltimore can't say where it's good for people down in VA.
I've been trying to fight for a CO for VA and truthfully in the past 2 days i'm tired of it.
It just saddens me that the community in VA does not even seem to care. From the SoVA chat thread and the absence of the new Sova CO it just seems kinda pointless to fight for something for people that don't care about.
Alex, maybe you're right, I've seen that thread degrade into a huge pissing fest. I'm tired of it, and like you said we need to get a resolution about this soon. That was my idea, it may not be the best one, it may not be the correct one. But i am trying to get to a resolution with suggestions.
I don't know if that was an attack on me, I do appreciate the input, and if was an attack on me i'm sorry that I offended you.

OK, guys, I am going to do my best to get us back on track here. Obviously there are some things that need to be worked out. In the past four pages it looks like we have one major issue that needs a solution.
The Richmond area and parts of NOVA have died, if I understnad correctly. Here is the important part--We have spent most of this thread saying why this has happened when we should be finding a viable soultion.
The whole 3 CO vs 4 CO idea , splitting the Mid-A up and Dyland vs. Bill has been focusing on the lack of participation in Richmond/NOVA. Again the reason for this lower participation can be mulled over for the next 20 pages. Or we can find a solution.
Persoanl attacks are not going to get us anywhere close to a solution, and in fact only serve to drive us futher away from it, so lets put those to rest. We are all brothers here. Its not always going to be cake and ice cream, but the time has come to change focus.

Look guys, whats done is done. This thread is irrelevant at the moment. I am in talks with the people I need to be. What happens, happens. If my point is seen, then I will move forward with the vote thread. If not, Its up to you NOVA guys to keep things alive, I can't stick my head out there if this is the response I will get, just not right.
There will not be a split, my goal all along as a CO was to bring the community closer, and despite a few people trying to bring that down, I will continue on that goal.
Peter,
I stated I understand where you are coming from, however I and the majority of the community feel your wrong here. Thats not gonna change. I appreciate your concern and know you feel strongly about the community, the fact is your not here, and checking the board everyday does not mean you know whats going on. Please wait till your home to make rash decisions and put us out there like that. Again, I hope your holiday is great, and your return is safe.
Until I resolve this and know which direction we are headed, this does not need to be open.

Wow, I can imagine a newer member reading through all of this and wondering why all of this is going on. This is definitely some negative PR in attracting new active members to the community...

all petty BS! Life's too short! Obviously some people need to find something to do because they are bored. If more people would concern themselves with what's going on in there part of the world and not everyone else's things would probably run a lot smoother. Just my .02. since I've been so vacant and keeping my nose out of things that really don't pertain to me in the first place, even though I am a CO. SOVA is covered. That's all that matters, to me. My part of the world is being taken care of.
Maybe I'm posting too late... because it's XMAS and there are other things that I do besides play around on the web.
Ok guys after someone mentioned that cthree was keeping an eye on us I had a conversation with him and he informed me that in fact he was NOT watching this thread, and that he was not opposed at all to a fourth CO. Although I decided to speak again with the Bills and the conclusion of that conversation resulted in us remaining with the 3 CO set-up.
Although I think 4 CO's would be more ideal to keep NOVA active, I simply dont have the time to organize any other area other than my own at this time. With that said, I am more than willing to start and monitor a thread for a member wishing to organize a meet or host one and not wanting to deal with monitoring it constantly.
Now, With THAT said. Here is the deal, to keep this community as active as it was the past year, we need more member participation, Ive noticed that this year the community decided to sit back and wait for a CO to organize something, I cant remember how many times I heard at a meet "So organize that up Brian!" our responsibility is outlined as "assisting the organization of a meet" this does not mean the CO's are going to stop organizing on their own, but if your interested in hosting or have an idea for a meet, PLEASE post this or pm your local CO. I dont care if the meet is in an area 200 miles from me, I would be MORE than happy to post and watch the thread so you can have the meet you wish to have. Just ask! It may start out as 3 cars, but eventually it will turn into 6, then 10, then 20. This is exactly what happened in baltimore, all it takes are a few members who WANT their area to build up, and it will happen. Not overnight though, keep at it!
The fact is, NOVA was not active at all this year, and this is not Bills fault. I saw him at plenty of meets sharing his knowledge and helping others and that goes above and beyond what is asked of him as a CO, so his duties are being MORE than fufilled in my eyes. So any comments about Bill not doing what he is supposed to are simply untrue.
These are the final conclusions of where the community stands at the moment, we will remain with 3 CO's and hopefully have more member participation in ALL parts of the mid-atlantic. This is my last post in here since I think from here we need to put this to rest and move on to a new year. This was a VERY successful year, and the most active Ive seen since being here, lets build on the momentum we have and make next year EVEN BETTER. We appreciate all of your opinions and suggestions (negative and positive) and let it be known I personally meant no Ill-will toward anyone, I just wanted my opinion heard like all of you did.
