Chad - start a caravan list too. I'm leaving on Wednesday and heading through North Carolina.

I should mention that if you live North of Fredericksburg, take 81 through Tennessee. If you're South of F-Burg heading through North Carolina is faster. According to my navigation unit it is almost 100 miles less through NC than our regular 81 way....leaving from Virginia Beach that is. You drive through more civilization though = possibility for more traffic

Even if you are north of F'burg, I'd go the NC way, too.

Beware Abingdon County at the bottom of VA on I-81!

I'm not that much further... I'll meet up with you in Martinsburg. That'll make it a little more interesting.

Just don't push your luck on the Virginia side - too many counties make their living on your lead foot.

Unfortunately, I have been busted there myself. I was in a U-Haul on my way to Florida while helping a good friend of mine move down there. IIRC... I was doing barely over the limit and the fine was still fairly steep.

The officer gave me a little extra crap because I was "speeding" in a truck.
