Default paging Hobbs5313

Sorry I had to start a topic, but I couldn't figure out how to pm or email you these pictures through this site.

This is how the harness needs to be mounted. The individual snap hooks are the lap belts(one on each side beside the seat)inside is first pic, outside second. The pair is where the sub belts connect under the seat.

Obviously this is the harness and the labels. They indicate a replacement year of 2013, or no good after 2012.

This is the back, bottom, and sides of the seat. And the labels on the seat, indicating a manufacture date of March 2006. You can also see the Taitec rail in these. The blue piece on both sides is how you adjust them. They are locked when down and free to slide when up, they both need to be the same to slide. I just wanted you to have an idea of how they work, and yes they are a pain to get to. Also, if you look closely at the picture of the bottom of the seat, at the bottom, you can see a wire and spring. This is what holds the seat cover on.

This is the hole on the right shoulder of the seat.

Another hole that a found after removing the seat from the car. This one is on the left side, right above the hole for the lap belt.

I found these holes too, again on the left side, towards the front of the seat.

Before/after getting the seat clean.

Drivers seat as an example of how tight they fit, and how dirty they get.

Man, I'm getting really excited. I'll hopefully get this seat and seat rail pretty soon. It's a pretty fair price. I'll look into how much the seat cover costs. Also ordered a new SPG and a taitec seat rail for the driver's side. Ordering a set of Schroth 6 pt. harnesses tomorrow for the driver's side too.

Skip - didn't you just pass instructor school? Do you know if NASA-MA will let Hobbs do HPDE with a 6pt harness that has the 2in shoulder belts? They're made for use with HANS only, but NASA-SE didn't give me any trouble last year. I'm trying to sell him my 3in harnesses, and wanted to see if he could go ahead and get the 2in(if he wants) for himself. Or if he just needed another set of 3in.

Yes, I did. NASA's instructor clinic has more to with how to communicate better with students than it does with the technicality of vehicle preparation. I am unable to definitively answer your question at this time.

But, don't the instructors do the inspection for HPDE cars in NASA-MA?

No. HPDE groups are required to to have a shop sign off on a checklist. This is to be done before arriving at the track. Instructor for Groups #1 & #2 just need to look over the car to make sure they feel comfortable riding in it. We're to check for seats being secure, similar restraining systems for driver and passenger, lugs torqued, etc. Again, it's just the routine walk around the car type of inspection. Instructors do actually give the students their tech stickers after reviewing the tech sheet and visually looking at the car.

Group #3 & #4 go to the tech shed to have an inspector look the cars over and to receive a tech sticker.

One thing I did find interesting after going through the Tech course...

Is you DO NOT need to have simular restraints for both Driver and Passenger. If the driver has a seat and harness, the passenger doesnt (As long as its 100% OEM) it is still legal for HPDE (MidA NASA) But it is STRONGLY recommended, and also the instructors discression if he wants to get into that car.

I really doubt Calvin will have any trouble with 2inch belts anywhere on an HPDE car. Ive seen them on other cars. Guess it wouldnt hurt to send someone an email though...

Awesome seat!
