Shaun, its just not as black and white as that. As the previous Community Organizer for the Mid-Atlantic forum, I can attest that such thread locks are not fun. Nor are they done with malice. Typically they are simply done to let things simmer down.

There was no ill-will for locking the thread. What there *was* (and it was a bit rampant) was folks just out and out being ugly to one another. And I'll say it like I said before, sometimes things said are *not* what they'd say to one another face to face. Words...they cannot be offered without emotion (either by the sender or the recipient). They can sometimes be presented without thought or consideration. And I think that is what Poindexter was attempting to diffuse.

Words...[some of the rudest have been edited out by Poindexter] but even those remaining include..."idiot"..."stupidist"..."MORON"..."hate your guts"..."cry to your mommy"... Words, just words, right?

I'll say it again. Being a CO is no picnic. Its *never* taken lightly when a person's words are edited out. It simply becomes a "good of the many outweighs the good of the few, or the one." And [I'm sure, based on my own prior CO experiences] that what Alex witnessed with the building animosity between members...members whose posts were being read by an even larger portion of the community than just those posting...Alex believed the entire issue needed to be diffused. It was certainly not personal.

I'm sorry. Very sorry for the position you now find yourself in Shaun. Believe me, I'm sure that there is not a single community board member that wants something bad to happen to you. You have a lot more to be concerned with than this board right now. But know that the Mid-A members feel for you. Good luck. Be safe. And take care.

I requested that the thread be locked for several reasons.
First and foremost, NOTHING good was comming of it. There was a lot of trash talking, bickering back and forth. This will only lead to hard feelings and bunch of internet warrior BS/posturing.
A thread like that is fine for street encounters (where it is expected) and other car forums, but not the mid-A general board.....plain and simple.
If you want to post thread about running from cops, drag racing, et al then do so in the appropiate forum. There are MANY people on the general board that don't appreciate that behavior and they're not afraid to say so. This only leads to flames going back and forth and childish behavior.
No one is saying you can't post at all, but do so in the appropiate forum...just to keep the peace. Look man, sometimes you need to know which battles are worth fighting...and keeping that thread open and discussion about that event, wasn't worth all teh trouble it was causing.

You say they are 3 types of people and then go on to mention 2 types. I guess counting is hard for you.

Secondly, just because someone wouldn't run from the cops . . . doesn't mean they talk shit. I wouldn't run from the cops, and I KNOW I DON'T TALK SHIT. Many people are really tough behind the keyboard. But in reality, most are lil punks in real life. Something to think about!

Lastly, good luck in court Shaun. Hopefully it is reduced and won't affect your insurance much. The money involved with a really good (read connected) lawyer is well worth it
