Default Problem with Vtec?

My vtec really seems to lag, especially in first gear around 7k rpm, then it hits hard as usual. Has anyone had this problem, or know what could be wrong?

I'm just taking stabs in the dark, but have you checked your oil level? That can do wierd things to VTEC if its too low.

Sounds like the car wasn't warmed up enough and disabled vtec. Make sure temp gauge is at 3 bars and try again.

Also, at lower speeds and a clogged air filter, you may not be getting enough air momentarily... causing it to stumble. This is in no way a diagnosis; just a thought.

And I'm not going to ask why you need to hit VTEC in 1st gear either.
