Default question for JCH people or anyone with knowledge on soft top replacement

Today, going out to dinner, i put my top down. I heard a noise, but didn't think twice about it.. and drove to dinner. when i arrived, i put the top up, and noticed it stuck in the lock position and looked all weird. Upon closer inspection, a bracket snaped off, leaving the bracket just hanging... it sort of locks but not really, a slight pressure will just unhook it. While sitting in the car thinking how it could happen, i noticed some light shining into the car... you guessed it... the broken bracket ripped the soft top, leaving about a 1.5 inch slash.

My question is... Will Honda Cover this? The bracket snapped off.. Not from wear and tear, but just did.. and that caused the top to get snagged on the bracket. What will Honda do?

If someone brought a car in at JCH with this situation, what would they do?

I usually deal with West Broad Honda, and have been receiving great service from them, but i really don't want to have to fight Corporate Honda of America on this matter...

From a dealer standpoint, i don't see spending the money to replace the softtop when it can be fixed..., but if i want to resell it, you can bet the scar will be noticed....

HELP!!...

I'll talk to Erik Hawkes tomorrow(9.3.03) to see what he thinks. Give me a call around noon and I should hopefully have an answer for you.
