Default Questions before getting my first car

Hello guys! I am new to this site and I am not too far away from getting my first car so I just wanted to make things clear for myself.
I heard that S2000 is not a good car to drive in snows, rains, and bad weathers.
I just wonder if Virginia's climate does not fit well with s2000. I live in Fairfax, Va.
( Two Up, Two Down )
It's not like I have a second car so I can keep a s2000 in a garage until a beautiful day.
So I'm here to ask and listen to some advices from you guys who already own s2000.
and I'm also here for why you guys recommend or won't recommend me to get s2000.
For example, Insurance costs... etc.

Thanks for listening,

well now........i have been through 2 VA winters with my S. And i drive mine on the daily as well, and have no problems with anything as far as weather is concerned. but as far as pro's and con's about s2000's is this......

there are no cons bro just a whole lot of bad ass.....s2000's rule, 50/50 weight dist.(or dam close to it), two cumfy seats(red), 9000rev limit(for us ap1 dudes), rwd, road gripping putting 350's in the dust power!!!

GET ONE!!! HELL OF A FIRST CAR HUH......

If you can keep a second set of wheels for all-seasons. (Or run all-seasons all the time.) Go for it. Hell of a first car -- respect it and be safe. It's very unforgiving to mistakes.

i agree. The S can be very unforgiving to mistakes. i think we all pretty much have our stories. Its also a great idea to get some all seasons for the car especially if its gonna be a DD. youll love the car tho. i dont DD mine but every time i sit in her and push the little red button im happy

Am I the only one that thinks an S2000 or any other "sports" type car is a horrible, unsafe and just plain stupid first car? I mean, it's a great car but the last thing you need for those first couple of years of learning to drive is something so unforgiving as the S. My post is based on the assumption that you don't have years of driving under your belt...

We've got members here with lots of autox and track time under their belts for whom the S2000 has gotten the better of them on the streets - and that's not even with them acting out in the car.

Personally I'd say your first car should be an automatic, inexpensive, easy and cheap to fix and nothing flashy - perhaps what most of us would call a "beater" (when in fact our "beater" cars are just good basic transportation). It's too tempting for someone so young to have the kind of power and danger at their fingertips when they haven't even mastered basic driving skills - especially in this congested area.

There's a reason your insurance is going to be sky-high in the S2000... Please consider something practical for a couple of years at least before you jump behind the wheel of a sports car.

No, Chris, you aren't the only one to think that way. I just didn't want my tone to take that direction last night. I was in a good mood!

get some all weather tires.
while the stock s02 or re050 are great in dry weather, they're not so good in rain, sleet, snow. respect your speed when driving in unfavorable conditions. and don't vtec until you get 3 bars on the temp gauge.

RANT ON:

First car a S2000?

How old are you? If you are 16 and your parents would even consider letting you own any sort of sports car is just absurd.

And people ask what's wrong with our country? It's a lack of common sense.

RANT OFF:

Watch out for those bad weathers
