Default Removing programs that HighJack your browser

Maybe one of you have some ideas. I keep having a browser high-jack problem where everytime i type something in, a related browser window pops up. It is making my internet noticably slower.

I use Spy Sweeper, Ad-Aware, and spyware doctor. I have also checked thru my msconfig and looked for weird programs in the add/remove. I ran the virus detector and all the programs and it still happens. Any idea's? The ads come from c.clkoptimizer.com, but i cant find click optimizer anywhere in my files.

Thanks, Derek

The problem is that i dont have to open IE for the popups to happen. I can be typing in AOL or Netscape and the IE browser will popup.

Once you get rid of the spyware try out http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html .. This program is kindof like an Antivirus program for Spyware. It blocks known bad ActiveX controls from being installed on your computer.

I've found that SpyBot Seek and Destroy, and AdAware have been able to get rid of all of the Spyware on the PCs I'm trying to clean up and Spyware Blaster does a reasonably good job at preventing them from being installed again .. Of course you need to keep the definitions for Spyware Blaster up to date.

Spy bot wasn't able got get rid of whatever it is. A ad for some shitty spy program popped up right after it was complete.

Sounds like it's time to back up your data, format, and re-install windows.
