Default Reputable local mechanic/shop for the S?

I would like to get the valve retainers in my AP1 changed to AP2 retainers just as a precaution. Normally I do all of the maintenance work and any mods to my car myself, but after looking at the service manual, I think it would be better to let someone with more experience handle this job. Does anyone have a mechanic or shop in the Hampton/Newport News area that they trust and will recommend? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am able to do it. However, by the book, it is not a cheap job to do. Our labor guide gives about 7.5 hours for the job. At $90 an hour, that isn't cheap. $675 to be exact. And that's just labor. I do, however, give all the Mid A S2Ki'ers a break in price.

Would you be providing all of the necessary parts? Retainers, new keepers?, valve cover gasket?

If you're interested in getting it done, shoot me a PM, and we can go from there. I have MANY vouches from the Mid A guys, and you can wait til they chime in for reassurance.

Hey Cory ... I have an IAC valve that keeps tripping a CEL (P1519). I took it off and cleaned it, but it still trips.

THis only happens during cold weather on cold starts ... never a problem in the spring and summer.

Do I have a bad IAC?

More than likely, just a bad IAC.

I think it's only like $160 at the dealer.
