Aren't they a pita to maintain or is that just a myth.
I don't think so as well. After good a tune, all I do is change oil and spark plugs every 3000 miles.

it is true. even though THEORETICALLY you would only have to do regular maintenance at regular intervals, it rarely turns out that ideally. naturally, random issues arise...leak here, leak there, ac pump not working, belt slipping, loose coupler. nothing completely incapacitating, but you will need to get in the habit of checking under your hood regularly, being able to notice subtle things that hint at potential issues, and be able to fix them.

i will have my VTSC installed and tuned and be back here by the 12th of January. Hopefully i will be putting at least 320+whp down. I am going with the AEM EMS w/ wideband so i have a good chance of peaking over 320. But you are more than welcome to test it out. I will be in school all week from the 12th to that frday. But should be open that weekend. Keep this at the top and i will remember to hit you up with a meet up time.

I've got a supercharged prelude, not getting it tuned is a big mistake, even with bolt on kits. Please, at least take it to the dyno for a couple runs to see where your air/fuel is, that should open your eyes. In my experience, buying the kit is only half the cost of a safe and reliable supercharged car.
The guys i talked to told me that it would actually be about the same as to go full turbo and put 400 down. But i dont want that much. But i am paying out the butt to ensure my car is 100% reliable with the SC on. Tuned

i think he was referring to turbo maintenance, but agreed on checking under your hood frequently. i give my car a good check up at least once a week, and any FI application will require more attention. that's not to say a properly done turbo setup is any less reliable than a s/c setup.

tune is not necessary with low boost s/c apps (just get a wideband gauge), BUT with the EMS tuned, i gained 40, yes, 40rwhp in the midrange. trust me, it made a huge difference. 318rwhp pulling strong and even all the way to redline with almost unnoticeable changeover feel at 6psi (probably a little less, cause of the aftercooler) = worth it.

i love my s/c setup, but i wouldn't hesistate to swap to the inline kit, if i had a buyer lined up...seeing 400+rwhp at 10psi on some turbo setups makes me cry inside.

CTSC here for about 1.5 years and have not had one issue. Couple of diffs and axles, but that goes with the territory

Everyone is going to be biased to their own supercharger kit, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Back in 2005 I had Hardtopguy, at a Mid-A mod day install a comptech supercharger with the 7psi pulley upgrade in my garage. Around that time, Dave22 was running his vortech setup with 7psi.
Dave had a clutch that was starting to slip, but in a straight line my car pulled on his. I was making 319whp at that mod day while Dave had recently dyno'd at 297whp.

Stock for stock, I honestly think that the Vortech Supercharger Kit is superior. While I do like the Vortech FMU, I do feel that the Comptech Fuel Pressure Regulator is a bit better, but that's about it. The Vortech blower does blow more CFM's and is more powerful than that of the Comptech. Basically saying at the same psi the Vortech unit should be more powerful.

Plus, in the HR area you have Tony (moparacker) who has more experience with the install/uninstall of a Vortech unit than many shops across the country ... and his labor rate is much cheaper!

Also, I know that you say you'd be happy with 300whp, but I said the same thing and that lasted me every bit of 4k miles. The Vortech unit is capable of making much more power as it is larger than the Comptech unit.

If you are open to all sorts of supercharger kits, you really should look into the Science of Speed Kit that is being designed right now. It's basically a modified Comptech Kit, using a larger blower. I wont come back to the S2000 world, but if I did decide one day to do so.. that would be the kit I would get. Going off the list of parts their using and SoS's customer service... that should be hands down the best kit available.
