apologies, a bit off topic.

i'm looking for a new place to live and i'm looking at reston. can someone give me a quick geography lesson on reston? is there a bad part of reston? is there old reston versus new reston? do all the cool s2k people live in west reston or east reston? etc. any comments would be cool, thanks.

 

I lived there for 16 years - 1979 to 1995. Don't know how it is now but Southgate was the bad area in town. I lived in a subdivision where Sunrise Valley Drive and Hunter Mill Rd intersect which was middle-class with easy access to the Dulles Toll Road. So much development has taken place over the last 20 years, it's really unbelievable. There are some older parts of Reston that are nice and there are a lot of new areas as well.

Are you looking for an apartment or a house?

thanks for the tips. plan A is to look for a townhouse (most likely older in my budget). plan B is an apartment.

i can see why you moved, prices here are insane, i grew up in richmond, i could buy a very large house in richm

 

there are some apartment on centerville road & sunrise valley. They are quiet nice and rent is like $800 or so. let me know if you need more info. The bad area is by south lakes hs and opposite world gate behind taco bell and not to mention Alabama st.

besides that all is pretty good in this area.
