Default S2000 vs. 350Z

There probably is some other thread that covered this but I can't find it (actually I haven't tried looking that hard lol) so I'll start another one.

Therez a LOT of hype of 350z and itz abilities. Just like when the S2000 made an entrence, 350z is being compared to similar vehicles such as Boxsters (poor boxters...itz gettin itz a$$ kicked for the second time lol) and the MZ3 (well...Z4z now). I never paid attention to the new Z car until now, since my close friend is buying one soon (his 97 Celica show car [looks really good] for sale if anyonez interested). I decided that I can't be obsolite quite yet and started to research about the 350z. Supposely Motor Trend did a whole comparason (though I can't find it...and this time I really tried) and was wondering if people wanted to comment on the subject.

A couple weekends ago I merged onto the Beltway at Georgia Ave and found myself right alongside a silver Infiniti G35 coupe. We both hit it -- the G35 had a nice exhaust note! We were neck and neck -- nothing crazy, too much traffic to really get busy.

They're okay cars but I don't find them exciting. I can see how other people would. I'd imagine their torque would make them nice in stop-and-go traffic. I do applaud Nissan for bringing back the Z and pricing it so well.

I disliked the looks of the Z until I saw it in that bronze color, which I think looks ultra sharp.
My dad and I were going to see if we could test drive one at one point when I was visiting NY, but we never made it. While I was up there one time, I ran into some guys from the 350z club or whatever they call themselves. One silver, one bronze.
The silver was too generic, like sebring for the s2000, "Toyota silver" as I call it.
I think everyone jumping on the bandwagon now, will kick themselves when they release the roadster and the turbo (or twin turbo).
I also feel that Nissan is putting themselves in the same corner they did with the 300zx that killed them, pricing it too high.

Really? I've visited the 350Z site (similar forum as this one but for the 350Z) and found that most buyers are pretty comfortable with the price Nissan has chose for their new Z. Maybe itz cause itz their car and they don't want to complain about it.

I am sure lots of people will like the Z,,, and they can all have it,,, I'll stick with my S

I just bought my 03 S2000 three weeks ago and before I made my final decision I walk over to the Nissan dealer (two dealers down in the auto park) to check ou the Z. It looks good to me,, the spec number sound great,, but then I sat in it As soon as I sat in it I said Nope this is not for me. I am not really sure what it was,, It was just a Feeling ,, things just didn't seem in the right place,, Dare I say it but I felt like I was in a GM car So, I immediatly left the Nissan dealer and went and signed the deal for my S less than 30 minutes later. Best choice I have made in a long time

If anyone that owns an S,,, Picked a Z to replace thier S I would be shocked!! If our numbers don't match the Z that's what Mods are for But Nothing that I have driven can match the Feeling of an S And if it's SPA YELLOW your doin even better !!

Tuner - You should be able to whoop a 350Z with a turbo'd S. End of story.

Pocomaxa said it perfectly. I had a 350Z for 2 days. It's a really great car but it's also a totaly different car than the S2000. It's like comparing a Nascar to an Indy car. The absolute limits of both cars are very similar but the feel is totaly different. If you bought an S2000 and couldn't live with the bare bones, raw sportscar feel then I think you might be happy with a Z. That very feel is what I love about the S2000 though. I love the feel of driving a go-kart. The S2000 is a purpose built sports car and it feels like it. The Z car is a performance car built on a platform shared with other cars (and SUVs! !) and it feels like it. At first I loved the torque but then I grew to hate the fact that it has NO top end rush. Where the S2000 revs freely to 9000 rpms and feels like it wants to keep going, the 350Z feels like it really doesn't want to touch it's rev limiter. I won't comment on handling too much though. I've had my S2000 at a couple tracks and been able to push it's limits. I didn't have the same opportunity with the Z. I will say that even if it does have similar or even higher limits, it's not nearly as fun to drive.
On another note, I ran one on the interstate the other day and I won't say I stomped it but I did beat it with a comfortable margin. We ran from 65 up to about 115-120ish twice. I'm not 100% stock but I'm close.
Also, has anyone here read the little comparison book that they'll give you at the Nissan dealer? I did, and it gives a good little comparison to the S2000 including stuff like 0-60, 1/4 mile times, and a few handling tests. They quoted the 350Z at I believe a 14.2 in the quarter, the Boxster S at 14.5, and the S2000 at 15.57 in the quarter. 15.57! ! ! I ran 15.4 in a bone stock Integra GSR. I wonder who they have driving their test cars.

Bottom line: I'm due for a new car. I'll be getting a white on tan S2000

When i bought my S2 there was a Nissan dealer next door.. And i couldnt decide which one to buy... Finally i decided that i didnt wanna buy a massed produced car. When im out on the road, i rarely see any S2s out there and i like it like that.
