Yeah I caught it at the Mid-Atlantic meet up in Richmond awhile back and thought it was gorgeous - definitely looked like a good paint job.

taking the time and effort to do research on various of body shops are critical. This is a big job for painting to whole car, you are shelling out big $$$. Avoid shops/painters with no proven track records

^^^I talked to Joey at SoM a couple months back. I am at the same level as you. I have melicious door dings and one part that happened in the two days i pulled my car out of storage last month that is to the metal.

Anyways, Joey actually felt bad for having to tell me. But expect to pay around $4000-$5000 for that treatment. But i was talking getting the lights pulled the engine pulled all the panels individually done. But i have seen his work and it is amazing. I would also look into Auto Elite Collision Center. Talk to Brian to get an estimate. 757-425-8083.

And yes, red paint costs a grip to mix.

I also paint/ase certified. I painted my entire s2000. Mixing the paint is not whats expensive but the amount of used to cover. Paint is transparent red is probably one of the most transparent causing you to use alot more. De-triming and prepping is what's the most timing consuming labor intensive. Good paint jobs are 3500. Great paint jobs are 5000+ .

Awesome, I definitely appreciate the info guys.

And I had Rick @ SoM do my hardtop came out really well for just having the gas cap to paint off of. I'll have to see if I can speak to some of these guys. freshs2k, thanks for the approx pricing, like I said earlier I don't mind paying for it if it looks great. I've got my OEM front lip I need painted so what I'm thinking about doing is just having that quickly shot so I can have it on the car (anxious) then have the whole car painted early next year when I can give it plenty of down time.

Wetsand and buffing the entire car will give it that deep look and very high gloss it is very labor intesive. Even if your a great painter you could have an oem type finish but wetsand and buff will give that flat mirror shine show quality reflection. I mean dust nibs orange peel any type of imperfection in the clear can be removed. Let's just say Barrett Jackson paint jobs lol

No problem! Pm me if you guys have any questions. Even though 90 percent of consumers don't have a trained eye and know what to look for us being enthusiast can help by getting the right information to chose the right shops and justify the prices for paint and body work
