Thumbs up Saying goodbye to my S

Hello,

I've recently gained a precious member to our family an unfortunately, I'm going to have to get rid of my S. Long story short, I also need a more practical car so that at least I can install a car seat in my car.

I'm looking at the 05 WRX STi and the 06 WRX STi (coming in August). My budget is around 30K-35K and I want to move over to the 4 door sedan arena without giving up TOO much of the performance value that I have with the S. What do you all think?

Any other ideas? I've been also looking at the Acura TL, Infiniti G35 Sedan, the CTS...etc, but they don't offer the rawness of the STi (sort of like my S).

the sti gets nothing but respect from me as far as raw, i would own one. i just hate that their are so many on the road but either way.....

congrats on the new addition, sorry about selling the S, sti get's my vote.

tl's are sweet cars but it's alot of power for a fwd car, the front end gets wierd when getting into it, don't like that but you can't beat the look and features of them

The STi is a great choice, but if it were me, I think I would prefer the Legacy GT if it were for a family...a little more room, a little safer, a lot cheaper insurance (if that is a factor for you at all, since you have to buy diapers!) and has almost the same potential as the WRX as far as the engine goes, but it does sacrafice in the handling and electronic controls (VCD). If it was for me only, and not a family, I would go with the STi though. The G35 would be a nice car, but I think I would take the TL or either Subarus over that though. Just my .02

me too...

No kids on the way though, it's just time to "part ways"

I would strongly consider the G35 Sedan or the Legacy. I came real close to buying the Subaru.

Check out fitzmall.com for good deals too.

I just picked up a WRX Wagon and am loving it for the price. If you want extra room and still a bunch of fun, the 2.5GT wagon is hot - I detailed one recently and drove it a bit. Definitely nice, but could use a suspension upgrade

I don't know how many 05's are left, but they had some good incentives on the wagon when I bought it (2 weeks ago). It's practical, but fun. The 06's are slated to get a 0.5L bump (to 2.5).

The big question is... are they bringing over an STi wagon?

Congrats and good luck with the purchase. I've been a Honda man for years and years, but this Subaru is pretty spiffy too.

I've got a TL A-Spec and they are pretty damn nice. It has a lot of torque and you definitely feel it. It's very roomy and you can fit 3 dead bodies in the trunk. But I don't think it compares to the STi. I haven't driven in one so I can't really tell you the difference. But my money is on the TL. Several of the people on this board has driven in it and they can vouch that it has a very smooth ride. It also has the latches in the back seat for child seats.

Thank you all for your feedback and comment. I've test drove the TL and I love it. My wife has the 03 TL, and I've also been a lifetime Honda/Acura owner.

I have a test drive scheduled for the STi later today. I'm also arranging to test drive the 06 STi in August as soon as it comes out. I'm probably going to get the 06 STi, if I go the STi route.

Yes, the Legacy GT is nice, but if I'm going to get a the GT, I would rather get the TL. Like I said, I want the "cousin" of the S in terms of the rawness and performance, and I think the STi is that. Now, the Evo is similar in terms of the performance, but I don't think I can live with the interior of that car. The 06 STi is getting even more interior upgrades, so we'll see. And I've compared the dimensions of the Legacy GT and the STi and it's not that far off as far as the rear shoulder/leg/hip room is concerned.

Thanks all again.

Here's another vote for the Legacy GT (sedan)...looks great, good performance, and AWD.
