Wow holy crap that's a terrible story! I have USAA and they are great overall.

I think you've been doing nearly everything you can to stay on top of these insurance people, which is what you must do. We don't know what your tone has been with them, which might be playing a part here...but no assumptions. (In your position I would lose my temper pretty quickly. Doesn't take much, especially when someone says they will call you back by a certain day/time and don't -- HUGE pet peeve!)

Why isn't your insurance paying for a loaner car if your car isn't drivable?

The two things I would suggest you do are:

1 - get an estimate for replacement seats on letterhead from wherever and fax it to them, rather than wait for them to do that research

2 - leave a polite message that gives a date and time for follow up; if you don't hear from them by then, go over their heads to the corporate headquarters office and complain

Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks everyone. As far as my tone, I was calm and polite at first but its become very annoyed and frustrated. I got in touch with my own Nationwide agent, Gordon Austin who usually goes above and beyond for me and my family whenever we need something and he's assured me that he's going to give Richard a call and see what the hold up is. But being a holiday and whatnot, they probobl wont be able to get in touch with him until Monday.

Gordon told me that he would call me on Monday night to make sure Richard got back to me and if he doesn't, he'll file a complain with the corporate office. I guess I'm just stuck waiting. Good news is my friend let me borrow his seat so at least I'll be able to drive the car around in the nice weather, hopefully my G/F wont be mad that I'm driving top down by myself

Where should I go to get an estimate on the seats? I called Seat Co and they told me to replace the top with labor was around 1800...I don't know where to go to get a quote on seats? Any Honda dealership?

Hopefully the insurance company wont just give me some used beat up seats

so you want your hard top and soft top installed at the same time?

look on the bright side, now you can get a glass rear window and red seats!!!

Wow...Am I getting shafted by Nationwide or what?

So I finally get a hold of Richard and he informs me that he's found some used seats from California which costs $800. He then tells me that they will include a 25% markup on it totaling $1000 for it all, but since my deductible is $500 . So then I ask about the soft top and he tells me that it will have an 'appreciated value' ( ) and I would have to cover the rest of it which is about $300...So I'm stuck with some used seats that probably were stolen some where or from someone on here as well as an $800 lighter pocket! I asked about aftermarket seats and he tells me that if I could find a set for under $800 that would be the best deal for me, since they're trying to save me money

I'm still yelling at my agent to see if I have any other choices. to the stupid ####ing prics who stole my seats!!!

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do now since it seems like I'm getting screwed? I checked my policy and cant find anything that says its ok for them to replace my parts with used ones.

man, that blows Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I don't understand why, if your deductible is $500, they can make you pay an additional $300 for the top???!!!??? Tell your agent that your deductible isn't $800 and it's their job to cover everything above $500.

It doesn't surprise me that they are giving you used seats. Insurance companies always replace stolen seats with used ones. Sometimes people who have mint condition seats stolen, get screwed with junky worn-out replacement seats from the insurance company. Hopefully they don't give you crappy seats.

I feel your pain though. Hearing about people getting screwed by thieves really pisses me off. Considering I don't have a garage and my S is my daily driver, I wonder when my turn is going to come

The key would be do you see anything that says they can't replace with used parts. They only have to make the car whole again so if you have a 6 year old car they can replace them with used seats. If you can prove the condition of your car to be like new maybe you can make sure the seats they provide are in like new condition, same applies with the top. I would make them provide the seats and top and I would check and see what seats and tops are going for and not trust their "find" in the computer system to be typical replacement costs.
