I did a quick Google map run from 70 right before Hancock
These roads are some of the best around. I have done this route and variations a number of times,
Gilpin road (below) is the road that is closed every summer for a Hilclimb Competition.

Why dont you come with us and lead us there
The confusion is, if we are coming from Columbia, what exit do we take to get on this route ?
Is anyone up for a going with me and check out the route someday before the cruise ?

I am not sure I am free that weekend, but maybe. It's a all day drive for sure, hard to find that much time lately.

Can you give me the written directions for the points 1 - 9 in the map you posted ?
It seems like you took Route 9 from I-70 down to Rt 29 or something
I tried to draw that map on Google and i came up with the following map. Let me know what you guys think about it
The only issue i see with this route is, there are points where the speed limit is 40mph but the roads and scenes are GOOD

that Map is from Fall Colors 2006, that is a different route all together. it starts and ends at the Rocky Gap resort.
