Love the S03s -- also highly recommend Jim at TireRack -- best prices on either S02s or S03s and he'll ship to your tire company for mounting/etc. Check out the tire forums for discussion on the best performing tire for the type of driving that you do. Jim at TireRack can be reached at 877-522-8473, ext 364 -- he'll advise. If you go with S03s you need to go to the 245 instead of 225 for the rears in order to get the same footprint as the oe. The S03 is WR rated and I've had great performance from them -- you still only get about 12k miles before replacement on the rears and twice that on the fronts. Don't remember exactly what I paid, but it was probably about $340 for both rears (with shipping). I occasionally drive fairly aggressively and on a lot of back twisty roads -- I prefer the high performance tire that does a little bit better on wet pavement as well as dry.

the clowns at carmax thought it would be a good idea to put dunlop sport 5000's on my car before they re-sold it. as a result i'm looking for new tires as well, and the best i can tell is that if you can find a set of S-02's get them. otherwise, the khumo MX's are probably the best dry tire you can find for the money. if you're more concerned about weather, get the S-03's. sidewall is a bit softer than the 02's and treawear is higher.

i just meant the treadwear rating. S-02's are 140 vs. 220 with the S-03's i think. doesn't really have that much to do with how many miles you get out of them. that's more to do with your driving style. my 340 treadwear dunlops barely have 7000 miles on them, and they're cooked.
i like the S-02's better because i think that they are a more agressive dry tire, but if it were feasable i'd drive around on Hoosier auto-x slicks all the time

I spose my driving style has a lot to do with my lack of mileage on either tire, but I really like the feel of the S03 -- even the ride's been better for me. They seem to stick to the pavement like a fly on flypaper (after they're warmed up). However, it has been my experience in driving the S -- things happen quickly and we all need to really be attentive to the feel/handling of the car whenever we're behind the wheel. Been teaching my soon to be 19 yr old (tomorrow's her bd) how to drive the S -- I constantly preach -- pay strict attention to every move you make in this car -- things happen sooo fast when you're driving the S!!! About the Dunlops -- my +1 loves them on his corvette, but I have no intention of putting them on the S. He recently switched from Dunlops to Firehawks (can't remember -- something 500) -- they're softer and he likes the feel a lot better than the Dunlops. We're keeping some freaking tire manufacturer in business -- maybe a couple of them at the rate of $ that we shell out for tires. Guess we could slow down, but then . . . where's the fun? btw -- Ms Perky's running Dunlops -- haven't heard her complain.

do the MX's have as strong a sidewall as the S0-2's?

edit: also, do you go with stock sizes or do you up it like you do for S0-3's?

s02's only for the s2000. thats how honda intended it to be, so i wont mess with that. just be careful(and use common sense) in the rain, and you'll be fine. the s02's are highly rated and come installed from the factory on select porche's and mercedes.
