Default soft top problems

this has been addressed before, but not in the mid atlantic section.

"guys i've had this problem for a year now, but it it didnt really bother me during the summer and spring time since i had my top down. Ever since I started driving with the top up the wind has started buggin the crap out of me. These past couple of days its been very windy in VA and its just 10x worse. I bought the Hardtop strikers a little while back, but they didnt seem to help at all. When i'm driving, sometimes i just pull down on the softop from the drivers side and the wind dissaperas when i let go it comes back. So it seems to me that theres something loose, but it cant be the strikers because i just replaced them. Anyone know what i can do to solve this problem."

anyone know a local place that can check and see what the problem really is.
i live in centreville.

When was the last time you used Shin-Etsu grease on your weatherstripping?

I'm not sure I get what the problem is, but if its wind shaking the soft top you can adjust the hooks on the top itself to make them longer or shorter. If you shorten them, it will tighten up the top a lot. If thats not the problem, just ignore my post

It's on page 20-49 of the repair manual.

1. remove rear tray side trim
2. close top and lock it with both handles
3. loosen locknut on link stop
4. adjust the link stop on each side until it makes contact with the link set bracket.
5. tighten locknuts
6. reinstall removed parts

I've used rubber tubing in the past. Cut-to-fit and slip it over the hook on each striker hook. That added "draw-down" resistance really snugs the top to the window frame. That said...it becomes a wearable part over time of opening/closing the top. So I purchased a 1-foot section of the tubing from the likes of Home Depot, or Lowes. Keep in in the trunk and cut off a replacement piece as necessary (~ 1/4" in length to do the trick for each striker hook). When I start hearing the wind again, I know its time to replace the pieces.

Just a thought.
