will this also solve the issue of rattling and squeaking of the top?

Don't dismiss the need to kept the seals moist/pliable. The Shin-Etsu helps the seals to swell thereby making for a better seal. Dave's idea is a cheap band-aid, too.

wingman....thats a pretty creative idea. I wouldve never thought of it, but it wounds like it would def. work.

i have the same problem. sometimes i drive with the left hand while pulling down on the middle of the roof with the right hand to make it quieter hahaha. im going to have to try some of these ideas.

i got some automotive vaccuum hose for $1, cut it into 2 small bits, put it over both hooks on the striker, and there it is. Went from noisy as heck to the way it should be. Awesome!
