Default Speeding Ticket in Maryland

I just got a speeding ticket in Maryland and wondering if the points will transfer to Virginia since I have a VA license? Anyone with any experience with this?

The Smooth Operator program I think automaitically ensured this happens if it were not happening before. MD, VA and DC are involved.

I don't think so. I got a speeding ticket on US 29 in VA on my way to W1ngman's drive/winery tour in Charlottesville in November 04 and it hasn't shown up on my driving record or insurance record.

seems like the ticket could or couldnt depending on how severe the ticket is. The officer clocked me at 90/65 but gave me a speeding ticket which i can prepay. However, I wonder if it does transfer to VA as reckless or just speeding?? Tough to gage the answer because even the point system of MD and VA are different.

I'd ask a lawyer. You wouldn't want to find out the hard way.

VA offenses did not give me points in MD, for what it's worth. NJ offenses didn't either.

My printout of my full record from the Annapolis MVA in October shows the out of state charges, but they do not accrue points for you in the MD system. In other words, insurance companies can use it against you, but the state cannot use it for the purposes of suspending your license.

Of course you're in VA so it doesn't help you, but I thought I'd try and clear up this muddy issue for other folks.

When I got my ticket in South Carolina a decade ago, the points did transfer to VA. In fact, even though the points are different in that state, and South Carolina didn't write it as a reckless ticket, Virginia interpreted it as a 6 point reckless driving ticket given that I was going more than 20 mph over the limit.
