Default spinning s2000

This evening at about 7:00 it started raining on 64 west just before the 288 bridge. We started driving from out in beaverdamn on our way to penn station on broad. Once we pulled onto the highway i was driving about 45-50 and all of a sudden i was in a spin across 64. We spun twice, I pushed the clutch and the brake and held on. luckily we stopped just before the ditch, someone upstairs was looking out for me. once i had come to a stop at the edge of the grass/ road a state trooper turns his lights in facing us (we were facing the wrong direction due to the spinning his license plate number was 5151) He got out of his car and said what happened i said my tires are really bald and it was raining like crazy and there was water standing on the road. He ran across the road to talk to the people who had pulled off the other side of the road to see if we were ok. He came back and the first thing he said was "because i dont feel like it and you know your car isnt good in the rain and is rear wheel drive and you know its light im not going to write you a ticket. I told him i didnt do anything to deserve a ticket. I just went to the autocross on sunday and i know my rear tires are bald and need to be replaced. im just lucky my car and girlfriend are ok.

i got sideways tonight as well by accident. came out of the hampton roads bridge tunnel and it was an epic battle to keep the car straight. bald tires + 4.77s + rain + 16s = infinite drift.

i was super scared. thankfully i didnt lose it and got of fthe first exit and took roads the rest of teh way home.

I'm glad you're ok. I got lucky and made it back towards my end of town before the rain came.

I feel that this needs to be said - DON'T F***ING drive in the rain or any other condition on BALD tires - I don't care how broke you are and how much you feel that you need to get somewhere. AND - it's actually a "crime" in VA to drive on bald tires, look it up!

I'm done with my rant - glad you're ok.

In all fairness, the dude did just come from an autoX and its not like he was trying to be a turd on the road. Bad things happen to good people. I know my tires are bald as Fahq right now but i just drove on em cause i was leavin anyways, no use getting new wraps when i only have one week left and they are just gonna rot away for 15 months. Wasnt safe but it could of happened to any of us.

Our S2000s tires lie to us constantly. With our camber setups, in the dry, the tires all but maul the road. But in the wet......low tread life can turn our cars instantly into SYBIL.

Any of you...with say 4K miles or more driven on your tires ought to do a test...right now: Standing beside your car, take a look at your tread wear at the fender...and now, get down on your knees biotches and take a look at the inner tire wear.

See the difference?!!! Now if the wear is significant, either rotate those tires pop 'em off their rims & swap 'em left side for right side so the 'inner' becomes the thick tread again or buy a new set if the wear is too foul. But don't drive on pie-bald inner worn tires
