Wait....not like I ever have my top up anyways....but they wont let you drive with it up? I wouldve guessed they'd let you to help aerodynamics. I guess if you roll over they are worried about the bars in the top hitting you? I'd assume rolling an s2000 on a track would be pretty dang tough though. Either way I still can't wait to try it. Thats a big goal for me....as well as driving a turbocharged/supercharged S.
you'd be surprised how easy it is to roll things... the reason the top must be down is the metal bars in the onvertible top. you roll, they break, the stab you through the chest... not a pretty sight.

this season is just about over (my final event is thi weekend), but i'd highly recommend getting in with a group such as carguys or nasa-ma. their instructors are great (nasa's are better) and with nasa you actually get to watch races, but you'll get more time on track with an education-only group.

as has been said, change your oil, make sure your air filter is clean, check your tires (make sure you have some tread and pressures are good), check all fluids, get some track pads, get some track brake fluid.

Since I have never tracked my car....well...I'd like to. Summit offers instructional help and such for $200 which I think is fair. I think I'm a good driver but I'll admit I'm no pro.

SO....

They say you can rent a helmet there...one problem solved
They say all convertibles must have rollbars....well....mine does ...but just stock ones...is that enough?
At the risk of sounding like a real idiot....do you guys who go to tracks use pump gas or racing fuel?

Anything else I should know?

(I looked at their website before coming here but still had questions)

Thanks in advance,

Mike

after FC i think race pads are a must to get the most out of the driving. that's where i know my car lacked that weekend, i had the power but not enough stopping power, so i had to use my brakes more.

If you enroll in a FATT, stock hoops are fine for the S2000. Other groups may have their own rules.

Pump gas is plenty fine.

Brake pads of an upgraded variety, brake fluid, and good tires are paramount. A clean air filter won't hurt either.

your first time out you won't need to worry about upgrading your brakes or tires (unless you are running blizzacks and even they would be fine).

You learn the line, learn to look in the mirrors, etc....... you won't be racing anyone or timing any laps the first time out.....

go this year if you can... it is fun for sure!

Hey Wassup,

I'll be heading back out to Summit this weekend for NASA HPDE event. Last month was my first time in my S2K, top down is the rule.

Pads, Comp tires and good driving are all you need for fun but for first timers, just bring yourself.

...although I was a little frustrated...coming down from a 360HP STI...o well.
