Sweet Show at FedEx
I went to Auto Show in Motion at fedex field this morning.. GM puts it on and you can drive all of their cars, and I do mean all ('06 vette and H2). They also have a mix of competitors cars to compare against.
No hassle, no hard sales push. Just a great way to test drive dozens of cars in a morning. They have short courses set up in the parking lits for the test drives. No drifting allowed though.
6 speed '06 vette was sweet (not enough room to really test it out) but handled like a light car and had mega torque.
The H2 course had a 30' hill that seemed like it was 45 degrees up and down.
I drove:
Chevy Corvette (6 speed) - Nimble and crazy torque
Cadillac STS (auto) - handles surprisingly well, lots of power, smooth over speed bumps
Cadillac SSLURV8) (auto) - Good handling, smooth, rock hard over speed bumps
Cadillac Escalade (auto) - Better ride than my sequoia but seemed smaller inside
Saab 93 Aero (auto) - Nice car
Saab 93 wagon (auto) - Nice car
Mercedes E320 (auto) - handled like a 1000 tons.
Honda CRV (auto) - Nice car like feel
Honda Pilot (auto) - It's a truck
Acura MDX (auto) - My favorite SUV at the show
H2 (auto) - Amazing climbing ability but half my kids are too big for the rear seats
H3 (not available to drive but had lots of iinteriorroom)
Chevy SLUR (manual) - Has a de-tuned vette engine but didn't inspire
Pontiac G6 (auto) - has I can't believe it's GM handling but crappy power.
Pontiac GTO (auto) - Definitely not GM-NA handling. Stuck like glue. Automatic made the car feel gutless. I should have waited for the 6 speed to get off the course.
Overall I was surprised how much GM has improved their interiors and fixed the wallowing suspensions on their products. If I didn't fear the quarterly visits to Mr. goodwrench, I'd consider buying one in the future.

1. Free - you even get complimentary food*.
2. Did I mention Free food*, along with the free admission
3. You need a drivers license and must be 18 to drive.
Brian Bolter from FOX5 was being taped driving around in a white convertible vette so I'm guessing it will be in the news tonight.
*OK technically it was food. Once of those box lunch things along with a coke product.
