I read somewhere that it sounds better if you take off the intake box cover. I did it this weekend, and the car def sounds better. But my question is does it do anything bad if I drive around w/out the cover on the box?

I have been driving around without mine for 4 years. No noticeable difference other than increased engine noise. Just expect to go through filters a little quicker than normal.

 

Heat soak. With the lid off, the intake is more prone to it.

 

The air box cools down intake temps. Beyond that, more dust/debris for the intake I imagine?

 

If you take the airbox off you get free VTAK stickers, yo.

 

Louder. And slower.
