Howdy folks. I am in the market for an S2K and just had my first test drive. Absolutely hooked on the driving experience. I’m interested in tracking the car — AX, HPDE, you name it.
BUT
I’m 6’3”.
After sitting in the car with the seat all the way back, here’s my results:
Absolutely abysmal failure of the dreaded broomstick test, even without a helmet!
I'm gutted because I absolutely love the car, and I actually fit relatively comfortably inside. More legroom than I’d need. Steering wheel is lower than ideal but usable. Half inch of headroom with the top up.
So I’m wondering whether there is a world where I could pass the broomstick test with an
aftermarket seat. Either with seat rails or maybe even bolting a bucket straight to the floor. I would really like to avoid installing a roll bar if I don’t need to. I feel like my ideal seating position is waiting for me, just 3-5 inches lower than the OEM seat can allow.
Does anyone have experience modding their S2K in search of passing the broomstick test?
Depending on the track you may need a roll bar to pass tech anyway.
I've seen a ton of recommendations, PCI rails, Nagiso low rails, etc. The "trick" if you really only care about passing tech and not safety, is to move the seat forward and tilt the back.
