Default Tein S-Tech question

I've heard rumors about S-Techs, that if you cut the bump stops, you can get an extra 3quarters to 1inch out of the springs. From what my buddy Fobby was telling me last night (he had S-Techs on his S2K a cpl years back), it actually says to do so in the instructions you get from Tein.

I bought mine used, already on the shocks, and the bump stops weren't cut. Trying to find out if anyone knows anything about this, before I take the time to take these off and take them apart.

i did this when i had my DA back in the day... you can do it but it actually compromises the shocks and they go out quicker. i didnt do it to the s2k though.

Cutting the bumpstops is one of the tricks for lowering older Sentras because they only have 3 inches of suspension travel to begin with. I forget exactly how much it is, but I'm pretty sure the S2000 has more than that. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start bottoming out on the stops a lot.

I just need more lower

And I'm not really worried about if the shocks let go earlier. Just gives me an excuse to move to coilovers.

In that case, you need springs with a more aggressive drop. Bumpstops have nothing to do with your ride height; their job is to keep the piston rod from crashing into the bottom of the shock body.

That's what I thought when I bought some ebays springs. 40k miles later, a dozen or so autox events, dragon once, drives a dozen or so, 4 1/4mile track passes, 300rwhp, 400rwhp, trip down to Florida, and still my shocks haven't blown so I haven't got coilovers yet.
Did you hack your bumpstops?
