My anti-lock brakes were occassionaly kicking in just before stopping in my Chevey 4X4. Once and a while, I would go about ten feet further than anticipated. After researching this, I found a Chevy recall for cleaninig and lubricating the front speed sensors on for states that use road salt. Virginia was exempt. WV, MD and DC were included, but I was screwed. I couldn't get them out.
My wife dropped me off at the repair shop so I pick up my truck this morning. I drove a few blocks around there and they seemed fine. I got on I-66 and drove about 9 miles. As I was coming down the off ramp I hit the brakes and whoooooooosh, to da floor. I pumpmed and pumped, but there was no resistance. I am looking at a stop sign and the 40 MPH crossing traffic, but THANK GOD no one between me and the stop sign. Then I stomped the emergency brake as far down as it would go and pumped some more. I still thought I was going to make a hard right, because I would rather get hit in the ass, than broadsided from both sides at the same time. Thankfully it stopped. I put in low gear and limped home very carefully.
I looked and there was brake fluid all over the inside of my right front. After pulling the wheel, I could see they had pushed too much brake hose past a clamp. The resulting ben rubbed the rim and sliced it. A quick inspection found the other brake hose to be almost cut through too.
Flat bed just hauled it back to the shop.

Damn, Lou! Glad to hear you were able to keep a level head and think through the situation.
Now, someone has some explaining to do!
