Default Trans and Diff Fluid Change (Columbia, MD)

Ok, it's just about time to get my diff and trans fluid changed. Sears (where I take the car for oil changes and such) won't do either one. I don't want to get ripped off at the dealership. So my questions are these

1) Would anyone in the Baltimore/Columbia area with a place to do the fluid change be willing to let me do it there in exchange for a) beer, b) food, c) me changing their car's fluids too?

2) If not, can anyone suggest a good garage/mechanic in Columbia or close by?

These are two very easy jobs but I understand the apprehension in not wanting to dive in without someone around.

I'm no where near you but would assist you in doing the work if no one closer steps up. (If you brought it down here to Woodbridge.)

I went down to Peter's shop in Beltsville (ispracing.com) for an oil change and a clutch job. I paid less than I would've at the shop I was thinking of going. His mechanic, G, was .

He gave me his tire caps off of his s2k cause I was missing mine

Tarts, what did you pay for the oil change? I guess I could give a call about the other stuff.

e3, I feel pretty comfortable doing it, my main apprehension is doing it in the parking lot of my apartment complex and having someone hit my car while its on jacks and I'm underneath. But it is always nice to have someone with some experience around I'll let you know what I come up with.

Oh ok! Thought it was just your first time or something.

It was 0.2 hrs of labor, I think. But it was combined with the other stuff and I didn't bother looking at the receipt so I couldn't tell you an exact amount.

The total was less than what another local shop wanted to charge me just for the clutch job. He also let me use my own filter and oil. I ran over to Costco down the street to go grab a six pack of Mobil 1.

Just give him a call and ask - 301.937.8008

More than anything I felt that it was a trustworthy place, which has been hard to find lately.

Tarts, good call. I'll call sometime soon.

E3, it's my first time on this car...so kinda my first time. But I've pulled the motor from my last car

Then you really shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just skim the write-ups in the 'Under The Hood' forum for the nuances about our car and you'll be fine.
