Default Ultimate Performance

After getting PISSED at InlinePro I asked around and someone suggested taking my car to Ultimate....soo...

About a month ago I had Ultimate Performance re-install my supercharger kit because it was not done correctly the first time and I had 3 places oil was leaking from. I understand there is a chance of a small leak here or there, but 3 was NOT acceptible to me. They did a good job and charged $90/hr ($360 total). When they were working on fixing the leaks they noticed there was about 2 mm of play on the pulley. They gave me my options.

I decided about 2 weeks ago to give them the car again. They were going to get the supercharger rebuilt, install a crank pulley and install a afr gauge. Vortech rebuilt my supercharge for free thankfully. I get a call with some very confusing information from Ultimate though. They said they just got the supercharger back, but they have to do the other work still too. So they had my car for about 2 weeks and didn't do the work they could've. They also think for some reason I only wanted them to install the bung for the sensor and not any of the wiring or the gauge.

I picked up my car today and had VERY mixed emotions.

PROS:

- Donny (I think a manager....not the owner) is good to deal with. He calls you a lot and gives pretty good estimates (even though both estimates were lower then actual charges by a small amount)
- Location is easy to get to
- Donny did offer to help me out and install the gauge like originally agreed on, but since he did not say if it would be free or not I just took my car and left
- Pretty flexible with getting my car in ASAP
- My car drives and runs like a champ! The kit is almost 100% dead SILENT and I can feel a good amount more power. If nothing else, it's a lot more efficient.

CONS:

- car was filthy....ok fine....I can deal with it.....but the interior too??? It look like mud on the seats, doors, center console etc. I thought it was scratched too, but it cleaned up okay so no big deal.
- why wasnt the work done when they had the car for the whole time? Why wait until the supercharger was sent back to them? Still got the work done fast, but I just found it odd.
- it wouldve been nice if the shop was big enough that they couldve kept my car inside, but realistically can't complain about it.

I'll go there again as long as I can deal directly with Donny

If anyone from Ultimate reads this, I'll be calling you about the gauge, but I hope you give me a break on the price.

If anyone from Inline reads this, I probably won't ever call you again.

Thank you sir. I hope all is well with you. I've pretty much dropped off this board. It gets too rediculous for me. I know a lot of people who are looking for local places though to get work done so figured I'd share my experience with others.

This is why I do all my own work, except tuning. I have said it before on this board, if someone is local and needs a hand or wants me to install something for them, all they have to do is contact me. I recently installed a S/C for another local (I will leave unamed unless he cares to chime in), everything went well for the exception of some wiring issues due to a birds nest. All in all I believe he is happy with the install, unfortunatly his car is running lean with out fuel management (running high boost pulley). I have also installed Fairfaxrev9k's blower and Ken's Lovefab kit. Thanksgiving weekend Lazydog will be the proud new owner of my Comptech set-up. I have fun and enjoy meeting you guys and love to work on these cars.

Inline Pro - I understand they have done a lot of good things for people on this board and really don't want to get into an argument about if they are a good shop or not, but they treated me like shit. They lied to me, wasted my time and in the end just left me hanging. They seem to know what they are doing, but they would have to learn customer service before I go back. They are also very busy (which is good for them) but you have to schedule even the simplest of things 2 weeks ahead. For someone who has a daily driver and nothing else....you can't wait 2 weeks just to find out whats wrong.

Mike,
I've posted a recommended mechanic in my area but the thread got deleted because they aren't a site sponsor. Their prices are reasonable and they are highly rated online (which is how I found them). They also drove my car back to my door. If you need normal car stuff they're a great place to go (brake job, any fluids, that kind of thing). PM me if you're interested. The problem is, without Inline, where do we NOVA/MD guys go for performance work? Altered Atmosphere in Gaithersburg does great work but they aren't as familiar with the platform as Inline Pro and I think Inline tunes better (having gotten tunes from both). They are also quite busy and take their time with just about every job.

Where do we go for performance work in the DC area if we don't go to Inline?

Who knows. I'm not saying no one should go there....I'm just saying I'll probably never go again. I'd rather drive further out of my way and be treated like I spend a lot of money even if I don't. Ultimate understands $700 is A LOT to me. Well I guess I'm over $1,000 at ultimate now, but anyways....lots of shops in the area.
