Default VA Front Plates

I was lucky enough to get pulled over today and have a police officer give me a ticket for failure to display front license plate (46.2-715)

My problem with it is that....I am displaying my front plate...it can be seen very clearly in front of the car. It is NOT on my front bumber though. It is behind my windshield on my dash.

Anyways....didn't know if anyone else was trying to do that, but don't. You'll get a ticket. I guess when they say display front plate they mean on the very tip of the front of the car.

Just pay the ticket and throw your front plate in the trash. You only have to get through another year or two - I haven't run a front plate in over 2 years.

It is looking like 2007 will either be the last year for a VA front plate or the year the front plates die

3 years.....and on every car I put it behind my windshield. VT you are allowed to have it there because it is still displayed on the front. I assumed displaying on the front of the car meant the same thing in all states. The officer mentioned if I mount it back the right way and take a picture the judge may toss the ticket out but he couldn't promise anything obviously.

I hope so!

The ticket is $25, but a $57 processing fee....$82. I think I'll take the officers advice and go to court and show them pictures of it mounted correctly. I can take the time off of work paid so it's not like I'd be losing anything by at least trying it. I know when I was given a ticket for my exhaust (on my last car) I walked in...told the judge I changed it back to stock...he said ok and tossed out the ticket. I was in shock.....but happy shock.

Just mail in your check with the ticket - it doesn't go on your record as a moving violation. I bet it is more expensive to fight it in court.

there is one problem with us VA people not having a front plate on our cars.... if you happen to go into DC.. and park.. the meter maids will give you a ticket for not having a front plate....

yes you can fight this and get it thrown out cause they are not supposed to give "FIX IT" tickets to people that live outside of DC or have their car registered outside of DC but it's a huge hassel.... gotta go to court yada yada yada.... most of us here will end up losing more money not going to work then to actually pay the $50 ticket

hopefully if VA makes this a law (no front plates) it would be great.. and DC can shove their tickets up their you know what..

sheeeeit, i got pulled over in Fairfax the other day for not having up to date registration (got lost in the mail). I watched the officer walk to the front to check that plate too, and he didn't see one up there. He didn't say a word to me about it. Maybe he figured one ticket was enough? Or maybe he didn't care...still, very strange to not get a ticket for this from a Fairfax cop.

If you have to mount it either zip tie it to your grill like dylan, or get what I got from Rick's.

http://www.ricks2k.com/products/plateholder.php

Looks 100x better than the OEM plate mount.....but still dosent look as good as not having a plate.

They need to change the law in 2006 not 2007
