man, i dont know what's up then. i'm over 26, CRISPY CLEAN record, single (maybe this is part of it?) and no other car. *sigh*....maybe i should look around some more. i'm not in the state program (i think they call that maif), i'm with state farm. allstate quoted me over 3k a year. man, this really sucks. i'm going to look around some more. what company are you with (if it's ok)? i'd like to give them a call and see what happens. thanks man.

I have Nationwide, I pay about $340 for 6 months. Full coverage, sorry, I don't have my policy here in front of me to give particulars. I was surprised too at that price... I also have a '91 CRX and my home insurance thru Nationwide. I just got off their highest rate (due to two pissass accidents) about 1 year ago....

You usually just need to shop around to find lower rates. It's like airlines, when they say every person on the plane pays a different price for the ticket. The insurance algorithms seem to work the same way.
I practically have had to switch insurance companies depending on the car I drive. I had Geico with my Prelude, but they didn't like my Acura 3.2TL (oh yes, they considered it a *performance* vehicle!!). Travellers didn't mind the Acura but they DOUBLED my premium with the S2000. No problem, back to Geico who's rate was lower than I had been paying with my Prelude. I didn't think my age/status changed that much to warrant the difference. Sometimes it just depends on what the underwriters feel like doing to you, or how they perceive a certain type of car.
Fortunately, insurance companies don't seem to slight you for switching. Geico was happy to have me back anyway. Shop around, though, even if you were turned off by a previous combination (car, company, situation).
