Default Well, I curbed her. Oops.

I knew it would happen eventually... See, the fact of the matter is that I can admit I tend to be a bit of a... well, not a bad driver, but ... I suck at parking. Errr, and I'm still getting used to how looong the hood of this car is. And PLEASE don't tell me to back it in. I've backed cars into spots exactly twice in my life, both times costing me a new muffler (I admit the problem, and work around it via avoidance, please don't make fun of me

I am not overly worried about it. It's under the lip, can't see it when standing, and, honestly, it'll probably happen again eventually. I Guess my question is this: Should I continue to maintain the laissez-faire attitude and leave it be, or would it be worth my time and money to go about getting the damage repaired and slap on a coastal metals bumper protector?

Of course, the plan is to not do it again, but, ya know, I didn't mean to the first time. I guess what I'm asking is this: If you have this item on your car, does it give you any benefit beyond the obvious built-in functionality? IE, does it give you some peace of mind when others are driving your car, do you not cringe if you or another driver rubs a curb?

Thanks tremendously for any input.

I don't know, Peg. If you are pretty sure you are going to do it again, I think I'd leave it!

How about some drivin.....er.....parking lessons, then fix it

If it makes you feel any better, I curbed my front lip which ended up cracking some of the paint on my bumper while pulling in forwards (friggin' hangovers and being late for work ). My car goes to the paint shop again soon.

I'd leave it be.. you just got the car.. and if its not noticeable then I wouldnt worry about it.. my lip in the front gets scraped all the time.. but its only the bottom, so I'm not too worried about.. plus my car is lowered so every bump gets their fair share my marking my territory.. lol. as long as it's not noticeable .. dont worry about it.. well.. in my opinion anyways..

You won't be the only one that will do this to your baby! . How can I know this? Well just today I watched a "glass repair shop tech" drive my lowered Bruised Banana slam up on the curb. No harm, no foul. But sure scared the $*(^ out of both of us when he first attempted to park the car .

It'll happen...

I scratched mine the same way. A week or two after I got mine, I let my best friend's cute little sister drive my car. As soon as she tried to pull out of a declined parking space, the car rolled forward and scraped the bottom of the front bumper. Worst sound/feeling ever.

I ended up with the Coastal metal lip splitter, not the lip protector, it just sticks out little more. I figured it'll cover up the scratch and make it look a little better. (Note: not that many s2ki peeps like the Coastal metal lip protector/splitter, but I did. In fact, you maybe able to find one used for cheap at the "WTB/For Sale" forum)

I'm not sure how the black lip splitter/protector on Red S would look, but with the lip splitter, I probably ended up scratching that about dozen times and that never showed, and it also have some give... unless you ram it into a curb and a cab.

Since I don't hear any great accolades for the bumper protector, I won't worry about that. I'll just try not to do it and slap myself in the head when I do. I swear, sometimes I feel like the poster child for the women-can't-drive stereotype. I was getting pretty far removed from stupid parking boo-boos, and within 150 miles of ownership, DOH.

I used to blame scraping the lip of my dear old del sol (R.I.P.) on how long the nose was (or if I had a passenger, I blamed their extra weight, hee hee), and I really thought that was a pretty long nose. I do much better when the guy who parks next to me is in, I line myself up with his rear door.
