Where are the slopes?
this site is great for local ski/board goings-on: http://www.dcski.com/index.php
compiled webcams if you're doing a daytrip but not sure where: http://www.dcski.com/webcams/index.php
i also think showshoe is the best of the nearby places, especially after a big storm. just make sure to go in something that has 4wd if it's going to snow! every trip i've been on we've had to help stranded fit/scion/etc owners back into town

Blue Knob in PA and Wisp at Deep Creek Lake in Western MD are ok for a stay over trip. Snowshoe is probabbly the best mountain around but a long drive. If you're willing to drive a little further you can be in Vermont where there are real mountains. There's also the Pocono resorts, Blue Mtn and Elk.
