Default why do we allow old people to drive?

why are old people allowed to drive ? I was on my lunch break from work about to go get some wendy's. I was at a stop light waiting for a green light, I look into my rearview and I notice this car kinda going fast and wasn't slowing down. I tried putting it in first and tried to move out of the way but I knew it was to late and the dude rear ended me. I was like " OH SH!T"

I get out and go to his car to see if he was alright, he seem fine. I look at my car and my bumper is jacked, so now Im pissed , so I ask the guy to pull over into a nearby parking lot. So we exchange info. I ask for his drivers license and I look at his D.O.B. and I was more than shock when it read born in 1919. really wtf ? Why is there a person 90years old driving on the road. On top of that the guy was nearly deaf. I had to talk to him nearly a foot away from his ear to even listen to what I was saying. This is a damn hazard to everyone around him on the road. there should be a law banning all old people from driving on the roads. anyways Im done ranting and Im sure all of you agree with banning all old people.

I will be taking my car into the shop this monday. hopefully there is no frame damage or anything, hopefully mostly just cosmetic.

oh btw I did see a lowered yellow ap1 with some rpf1s. would of gave you the but I was to pissed off. so sorry. if you are on the boards.

^^^ would you feel the same way if he was your grand-pa?

I completely understand your frustration but accidents happen on the road all the time!! and it can just as easily be a jack-a$$ texting while driving or not paying attention to the road.

and what is with this comment? I did not once curse at him, or disrespect him during the whole thing. I made sure he was alright. and made sure all the correct info was exchanged for him and me. He knew he was in the wrong. He even wanted to pay for the damage outside of his insurance, because he knew he was at fault, and with this accident his insurance company would most likely drop him or even worst lose his license, but I knew that was not the right thing to do. even after all that we shook hands and parted ways.

I work with senior citizens at a retirement home here in Williamsburg. and I have nothing but the up most respect for seniors. They have so much knowledge to teach us, with the lives they have lived. but someone at that age do you really want them driving on the road? just like do you want 16 year olds driving on the road? I sure dont. There have been many studies showing both age groups are high risk drivers. There is even a gentleman that lives at my work. Who is 102 and still drives. I mean that is pretty cool that he is still able to do that but really come on now that does that seem smart to you? people have to much pride sometimes knowing when they need help and are unable to drive, but they still do.

So if this makes me a punk ass honda driver, that is your opinion.

I hate those jack-a$$ that text or talk on the cellphone while driving to. I cant wait till they ban it all from driving. because it puts everyone around them in danger. anyways

yes I would feel the same way if it was my grandpa. If he is still fit to drive that is fine, but at that age you might be able to drive but no matter what your reaction times are slowed. At a certian age they should take a annual test. make sure they are fit to even drive on the roads which this guy was clearly not. They make teenagers take all these tests and drives before they can even get a license. so they should do something the same with senior citizens when they get to a certain age. both my Grandparents agree on this subject and they are both in their 70s and 80s.

My comment had nothing to do with you directly. Everyone on this board knows I'm not a Honda fan. That's what that means. Sorry you took it any other way.

I didn't want to respond to my real opinion which is more along the lines of we're all terrible drivers at one point. In fact, most people are terrible drivers their whole lives... and inconsiderate to boot.

lol, not a honda fan? how can you not be a honda fan and be a member on a honda car forum?. they make some of the most reliable and decent price cars out there. and top of that they make some pretty good looking cars.

I'm a fan of the S2000 and the NSX. And no, I do not think the others look good.
