Default wreckless tickets

So me and 5 of my friends were taking picutres at 11pm at night on the 5th floor of a grey hound VRE metro type parkin garage. As we go down we are all breakin the tires loose and have exhaust and it echos in the garage. We are not pullin super drifts like the movies. We just like the sound of our cars. So when we get to the bottom there is a cop infront of the exit. as soon as he sees us come down he flips his lights on. 7 more cop cars arrive. there is only one way in and one way out. He yells at us to turn all our cars off and throw our keys on the hood. They tell each one of us to get out the car and frisk us all. he could have given us tickets for trespassing also, but only gave us wreckless tickets for "breakin traction" he claims he saw all of us except for the last car who he didnt see and he got a ticket for trespassing. we all have to go to court what should we do?

You should stop breaking traction. Make noise, attract attention, not the best way to go unnoticed.

Go to court and own up to what you did and don't drive like an dick in a public area. I'm not trying to be an ass, but obviously doing burns outs in a parking garage is illegal, thats what you did and it seems like thats what they gave you tickets for.

I recieved a ticket for spinning tires in MD, when I took off fast and chriped my tires. I had no previous traffic tickets and I was found guilty in court. So good luck to you.

with both of the above. Sucks, but burning out is a moving violation.

Sounds like you guys are screwed but I still think it's BS that they can give you a reckless ticket for "breaking traction". Technically you could hit a pothole as you launch normally from a light beside and a cop enough to chirp tires and you could get a wreckless driving ticket? I know it's up to the officer's interpretation but PWC cops aren't far behind Fairfax for being nazis. Only way to avoid tickets in this state is to drive like a granny and be painfully slow launching, stopping for 4 ways and traffic lights in a 4 door sedan with no mods and no tint that makes less than 150 WHP and don't even think about getting a radar detector.

...and then we pay almost 3% property tax every year on a value that we'd never get for the car if we actually tried to sell it for that anyway. And even being one of only a couple states that has property tax on automobiles we still have 1/2 as many roads as we need for decent traffic flow.

Sorry for the rant.

My first question is whether or not the police can ticket you for behavior on private property - i.e. not a public road... Wouldn't autox's at FedEx and other commuter parking lots be illegal, technically? Wouldn't the garage have to be private property for a trespassing charge to be valid?

The way I see it, either the trespassing charge is invalid or the reckless (not wreckless - tho it's good you were wreck-less ) charges are invalid. Trespassing may be invalid if it were public property, reckless may be invalid if it's private property...

Not trying to be a jerk, it's an honest question. For example - can they give you a seatbelt ticket for not wearing your seatbelt on your own private driveway?

I think someone should make and sell some shirts that say "Don't Mess With Virginia."

They told you to throw your keys on your HOOD?!!!

Cops just don't appreciate how much we value our rides ...

I hope my questions didn't come off as trying to excuse the knuckle-headedness...
