Im actully excited for these suckers to come out. With me only being 18 years old i dont remember that far back when they came out 17 years ago. So im kinda anxious to see them going crazy and see what all the hype is all about, who knows it might be fun....but from the sounds of it you all have lived through it once before and dont seem to happy about their returning....... hehe

The MD Dept of Agriculture says, "Marylanders are encouraged to plan ahead and to learn about cicadas so that they can experience this spectacular event as a wonder and not a calamity. "

hahah....sure but just make sure you stock up on Bug and tar remover.

Should be at least another week to 10 days before they hit. I heard somewhere that they don't come out until the ground temperature reaches 64 degrees.

Though a scattered few will get out early. I visited my parents last weekend and they had a few dead ones in the driveway.

Saw one over the weekend at DC Zoo. The sucker landed on my neck made my neck itch I moved my hand to my neck and it flew off on to a leaf on the ground. Here is a pic my gf took when it was on the ground.

next time they try that, grab 'em by the wings and slam em on the ground. That'll teach 'em to use your neck as a landing pad.

I think they are already out today! Saw a couple on the ground already! I saw one while I was sitting on traffic at Braddock road. It was on the trunk of a TL, watching it while I was bored...and suddenly wings came out, and it flew off.

I have yet to see even one Cicada. I want to see the swarms of them like I remember as a kid.
