hey, how u know u need the air pump replaced? did u throw a CEL light?
what does it do exactly? and whats the ramifications if you dont replace it?
i think i have to replace mine too and would like more info

 

You'll get a CEL, P0411. There are a things that could cause it without the pump being completely dead, so you should read up on those (I'd tell you if I knew, I'm just sure that my pump is bad, so I didn't go looking around for the other possible problems). I know that mine is bad because it was having trouble last year, and now the CEL is back on, and the pump makes a nasty noise when it turns on.

No real problems from driving with a bad air pump. It's just an emissions thing. You won't pass emissions inspection with the CEL though.
