Default Air-conditioning

2 days ago my A/C went dead! it was just blowning hot air out!
GASP! not a good thing if its 32C' outside

so i go to the dealers and they say i have to replace the A/C radiator and the compressor together with the fixing of my slightly bent lower brace
the total bill?? 500$ + !!!

so i take my car to a local a/c repair garage
they take out the A/C radiator , they notice a small hole in the bottom, they weld in the hole, they put the radiator back in, and now everything works perfectly!!

how much did i pay in the end?? just 50$ !

my question is...was the problem that easy to fix?? i mean its a HUGE difference to what the dealers originally told me!!
and can it cause problems later?

thanks!

I know for a fact dealers won't weld holes and will ALWAYS recommend replacing them. In doing so they gain in their Part Sales Dept. too ...

I can't see the harm in welding/blocking a leak.

If it is working fine, then I guess that was the problem. If they are specialists in a/c repair then they must know what they are doing... right!?

Though yeah, dealers will always get you to replace the parts.

Hope it sticks!

Dealers dont have it in there vocab "Repair". Everything for them is Replace with a new one. They make money on parts and someone in the garage makes money also in selling those used parts with no problems just a weld or cleaning!

For few things on our cars, we shouldnt go out to others since this vehicle have special tools to open certain bolts at locations, hammer and extentions are no good.

I installed my racing clutch outside, had some problems with engagements, gave it to honda to FIX and they FIXED it.

Now i am doing my clutch again and this time at HONDA - TE.

Basically just need to be selective, i know some people who would use dealerships to fill fuel in there cars also.
