Default General Knowledge Question

Hey..
Well i have an 05 accord 2.4
And i drove it the other day after about two weeks in the S and it felt like i was on an iceskating rink in a big round ball. just weird.

Question being: The accord is decently fast too mine was locked at 210, and it honestly didnt take too much effort to get there. I can do 180 while at around 3.5-4.0 Rpm.
Even though the S feels so much nicer n faster n everything else, i kinda feel like the accord does things with a lot more ease, even though it takes more time to do it. Also, in my S, im doing 100 at over 3 rpm in 6th..
Was jst interested in the reason why its so different considering its jst a marginally bigger engine. Can some1 please explain the mechanics of the thing?

(Sorry if this is a dumb question but im weird this way i get bored you see)

What you feel is the Torque at lower revs in the Accord. Also, the Accord has lower noise levels which makes you feel easy to go fast.

its the torque like Ahmad said and the accords' gears and engine are designed for the road mainly. Its not track oriented you could say. Its torque helps it go faster at lower rpms so its gears were designed to be longer which helps it get higher speeds at lower rpms i think. (its a 5 speed tranny right?)

+1 on what faraz and Yoseph has said ... Driving any saloon car is lot easier and feel's safer. Its the combination of everything, Engine, Suspensions, size, weight ... all in all it all works in sync and you dont have to do much here.

Where with S ... its you and the car, two seperate things, S is like a Horse, it will do what you will command it to do .. everything is a direct feel. You want it to spin, it will spin, you want it to brake it will brake. But with accord you want it to spin? Try harder!

It all boils down to how the car was engineered keeping the DRIVERS in mind ...

1. How did you "lock" your car at 210?
2.a toyota yaris 1.8 will do 197 if that is fast in your world. almost any car will do 210 these days. and if you dont care how long it takes to reach 200, what exsactly is the point of your question?
3.the rpm at curtain speeds has ONLY to do with the gearing of the transmission and the final gear in the diff.

Now my question": what does a 2.4 accord do with "a lot more ease" other than provoding seats for 5 people?

Since it doesnt ever go above 210 no matter how much distance im trying it over, i figure it's been locked by TE.

About the point to my question, it was simply that since the accord does get up2 speed without too much effort, i was wondering if its the gearing or the extra .4 litre engine, as to why the cars feel so different, barring the obvious reasons like its noisier and a higher redline etc. Its not abt how long it takes to get there, but how effortless the getting there seems.

As for what the accord does rather than providing extra seating well thats in the question i asked right at the top.

a. Gets to high speeds (yes 210 is high for me)
b. Doesnt seem to take up too much effort from the engine.
c. Lower Rpms throughout.

I figure its probably a combination of the gearing and the displacement, but i was wondering if sum1 could explain the physics of it without being condescending, considering that not every1 knows as much as theyd like to about cars.

I know what you feel, as we said, the car is designed to be driven on public roads with comfort, safety and practicality.
There is much different stuff to be changed to make the car easy to drive.
The engine, they forget max power and make it smooth, torquey, fuel efficient etc.
Gear box, gear ration is wide a part to reduce gear changes. Easy gear change, softer clutches, springs etc.
Suspensions, tuned toward stability and comfort not aggression and sporty etc
All bushes and mounts are soft and large to provide smooth feel, less vibe and more insulation.
Noise suppression and insulation. Even though the engine, air box, exhaust are quite, they put some materials to isolate or absorb the noise.

aaah..thanks bro...kinda puttin things in perspective now.
But you know about the comfort factor, I honestly feel sometimes like the accord is way more comfy and smooth than most german cars iv driven that are more than a year old. Maybe its just my accord, but ah.
