Any ideas?
I was ready to purchase the 4.77 gears but now that has to wait.
I started getting a little squeaky noise that is coming from the right rear. I took the car into the dealership and the honda tech told me the noise is from a bad strut or spring. The dealer could not tell me which one though. The tech did not even know if the vehicle had aftermarket struts or OEM. I asked the tech if he could lubricate the suspension bushings and check the rear axle nuts and he told me that would not do any good.
I bought the car with the Eibach springs already installed. I don't know myself if it has OEM struts or aftermarket. Is there anyway to tell if the strut is OEM or not.
Is there anyway to lubricate the strut incase it may just be dirty before going and replacing everything.
The dealership told me I need to replace the whole assembly to get rid of the squeak. They priced me at 555.00 for each side. Then I would have to do the fronts also.
If they cannot even tell me where the problem really is I'm not just going to replace everything. If I just need struts then I would purchase aftermarket struts.
If anything else maybe someone on the forums has OEM strut/springs.
Can you guys/gals give me your input and experience in this area.
Thanks

I have decided to just go back to OEM struts and springs. I enjoy the car being lowered but I'm not ready to spend the bucks on a coilover set up. It looks great the way it is but I want something reliable thats going to last.
I found a few sets of complete OEM struts/springs from members on here. One of the members told me he has a brand new set and the other member told me he has a set with about 30K on them. I am trying to work a deal with the new set first. If the price is right my hope of getting gears may still be an option.

I have yet to replace any part of my suspension but have starred at it several times doing other related things.
The stock setup is easy to spot; the rears have remote reservoirs the fronts don't so they are a tad harder to spot they should be all black and have a Honda part number on a sticker I think. The reason I bring up the reservoirs is that most of the more economical damper replacement choices do not have the remote reservoir on the rear. From the research I had done short of buying a full coil over setup no direct damper replacement has remote reservoirs.
Some other random thoughts I had that may be complete unrelated but things I have ran into with Hondas
1. Rear brake pads
2. Rotor dust shield
3. wheel bearing
Just a couple of thoughts and things that might be worth double checking.
Since the springs have been replaced see if the damper rod dust cover was removed. This would allow road gunk to get into the damper and cause premature wear. For the price the $tealership is looking to charge you, if you want to stay lowered you better off buying a decent coil over setup.
Good luck...bummer this delays your gear plans....I still need to reply to your PM from yesterday.

I will check out the other stuff you have pointed out. If by this weekend I have pin pointed the problem I will just go back to stock for now. I have friend that could help with the install so that will cut back costs.
Later on down the road I can upgrade but for now the stock will work just fine.
On the plus side if my springs are not the problem I can sell them and put them toward my gear funds
Too bad I don't live closer so I could have you check it out. Thats one bad thing about living in a small town. I have one Honda Dealership here and I hate going there. Customer service sucks. The worst thing about going to take your car in for work, is leaving knowing what you did before you went in. Which was pretty much nothing.
Do you know if you will be passing through Garden City on your way to Wichita. Sounds like a fun weekend. If you do and have time to stop by let me know I should be around.

I just bought a set of shocks and springs with about 30K miles for 160 shipped. I thought that sounded decent.
I am going to try and keep the Eibachs on and replace all the shocks. If the Eibachs are the problem then at least I will have the springs on hand.
Thanks for the offer though.

I didn't know if you caught my post in the S2000 Talk forum. It was the Eibach spring that was causing the squeak in the right rear. That sucks because I didn't have a choice but had to go back to OEM and now I can't sell them either.
I enjoy the new soft ride but miss the aggressive look the Eibach's gave.
