BBQ
I just got back home from my trip to KC. I must say that I am impressed with the downtown revival. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I noticed a few s2k's, 2 parked and a blue one with 2 chicks cruisin. Anyways, to my original question...... where can I get the best BBQ in KC? I tried Gate's, and it was good but not the best. Where do I need to go next time I'm in town?
thanks,

1). LC's BBQ on Blue Parkway--- the burnt ends are on point
2). Oklahoma Joe's On Stateline is good too---in a gas station
3). Big T's as welll
Being from Texas, I must say the best BBQ comes from the Lone Star State, but they have some good stuff in KC.

Other than the BBQ, where else should I go? I wasn't really impressed with the art museum, after all the hype I heard. I'd like to make my trips there worthwhile, and I'd rather get ideas from people with similar intersts. The stupid online city guides pointed me to the places I went to this last trip. The only thing I really liked was the downtown area.
I'm not impressed with the Nelson either, really. I live about 3 miles away and never go there.
If you want to see some nice cars, just go to the plaza and hang out there a bit. Saw a Maserati the last time I was there, and you don't see those often in KC.
I would try to schedule a concert or something at the Sprint Center since you liked down town.

Oklahoma Joe's is good. Jack Stack is good.
There's a little place near old town Lenexa that's pretty much a catering service with a walk-up counter for lunch...they are really good. I apologize...cannot remember the name.
Zarda in Lenexa smells good when you're driving by, but really is nasty.

I personally like Jack Stack Barbecue.
Power and light district is fun friday and saturday nights, I think they are starting a concert series on the weekends.
Westport does an art fair I think in the summer, I'm not big on going to the bars in westport at night though.
First fridays, Link, if you like wine/art.
World famous Lenexa Barbeque Battle is going on the last week of June.
Rockfest and spirit fest are pretty big concert festivals that are near downtown, sandstone amphitheater is under new management, all GA seats are now in the first section and free parking, so that's a pretty good deal. Starlight and the zoo are a good time as well.

My favorite KC BBQ is Jack Stack. Love the pulled pork.

There are a few kick ass places to be in Westport (Kelly's, Harpo's, McCoy's), but like Brent, I am aprehensive about being there after dark. I had my S2000 down there once and I was completely paranoid about something happening to it. It is rare for me to go to Westport, and if I do I usually make sure both my cars are at home or somewhere far away that is safe. Too much thug life down there after dark...
Since Brent brought up Rockfest, Red White and Boom is June 28th that will have quite a few bands on tap for the day....either event will bring the ladies out in very little clothing.
There are a TON of great places to go and have a good time in KC. I love the people here, its easy to walk in and make friends any place you go.
