Testing Waters - don't hate me
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have just received a call that has filled me with excitment, but also with much sorrow. I have been invited to co-drive a race car (C6) on the One Lap of America Cannonball Run sponsored by the TireRack. This would start on Thursday and goes on for 1 week as we would race in over 7 racetracks across the US and have to drive some 3,500 miles to get from one place to the other.
I could only dream to participate in an event of this magnitude due to the expense and the wear/tear that would be place upon the race car. However,...how could I possibly get away with this?
NEGATIVES
1. Leave work with less than 24 hours notice for a whole week
2. Very little time to sleep, thus having VERY little access to email and the web
3. Miss out on the Sadler's event and S2ki meet - this would be the 3rd year in a row that something happens unexpectadly...I simply would feel horrible - especially since I am taking a big task of planning the karting event (even though it is all set up to be smooth)
POSITIVES
1....pffff. So much driving time that I would not want to see a road race or autox pad for at least 3 months
2. All paid for...I just have to take my helmet and my pumas
3. No fees...no expense for tires, maint., etc
4. Free sponsorship for my business
5. No wear/tear on the vehicle I will be driving
While this should be a VERY easy decision, I am challenged with having to make a decision tonight as I have to get all my stuff turned in by noon tomorrow, including medical forms, liability papers, insurance waivers and about a dozen forms.

wow man that'd be the shit!!! I doubt anyone would have any hard feelings of you going. That is a once in a lifetime deal. The MoM will happen again potentially in another town. I say do it.
and since I don't have an S2k, I'll take Gooooooood care of the C06.

Derek, Brent or Marcus...who wants to take over the karting event? Any volunteers? We have all 28 spots filled (even with me not going) and pain in full...we just need one of you guys or 2 to take the lead and run with this...I can meet with any of you today/tonight to go over all details and ensure all is clear. One of you guys would have to go and pick up the trophies which will be ready on Friday...anyone?
