Door cards and seats are probably too far apart to note slight differences in color using the same "formula" or dye code but replacing seat panels in mono-color seats could show color differences.

For lurkers: Note when matching colors they can look vastly different in different lights such as daylight, incandescent, and fluorescent. Even if they match under one light wavelength they may not in another. For automobiles and outdoor clothing the daylight match is critical.

In another life I fitted daylight wavelength fluorescent bulbs to dozens of factory ceiling fixtures so any difference in color between dye lots was apparent. This was after we shipped a several dozen knitted sweaters that our QC passed and the customer (LL Bean) rejected as the sleeves were a different shade than the body despite the same dye number from our yarn vendor. Got to tour their facility and, sure enough, the sweaters looked bad in daylight -- and under their daylight wavelength indoor lights.

Chuck is correct. LED lighting over your seats before you begin may look fine. But the hydrated and dyed leather, before you applying the sealer, will "show its skin" and you can see the marbling of the animal. Sealer levels this out, as mentioned in PM. In reality I chose a LED dye room to highlight imperfections to fix, and then utilize outside dylight for the final dye coats and sealer.

Side note: while the seats and door cards are far away from one another. the plastics are also a different color each year as well, so the distance doesn't help much if you have a dye mismatch to your years red color

Interesting points on lighting. All I want is a nice looking, matching red seat.

I get what you guys are saying, though. I can look at my mismatched seat in the garage under halogen light and it looks ok. Take a flash picture and it looks noticeable as heck. In direct sunlight, terrible. I will definitely use the sunlight as my guide as you noted.
