Make sure you are reading the fine print. Just so people know the checking account is only 3.6% interest if you have over 10k (this number may be inaccurate as it is from memory, but it is quite a bit) in the account, otherwise it is a more standard .5% or something like that.
over $5K (average monthly balance)

Etrade complete savings is now 4.4%

seems like they will advertise a rate for a short time but don't keep it for long at all. At first checking was 4% now it's 3.25%

I picked up etrade for the 5.05% savings and now have the 4.4%. I'm ok with that still, and I did a transfer-in-kind of my AAPL holdings from EJ to etrade at the same time. They had great customer service, and now my trades don't cost me $50! Seriously.

My ED account dropped to 4.05%, down from 5.25 originally many months ago. Wamu is down to 4.25. Spend, spend spend! says the FED.

What's with their current ads that their savings accounts pay 8X over the national average? Seems like false advertising to me.

"nation average" is currently around .5%

pretty much all the online savings accounts claim that (etrade, wamu, ing)

That's a good question. Most local banks do not attempt to be competitive, such as wells fargo, in this market. My mom got .54% at wells fargo before I finally got her to put it in ING a while back. She had rolled over a CD and had 50 grand just sitting there earning a couple hundred bucks a year, good lord.
