it's a business they should be shedding if they are focusing more on areas that aren't retail or end consumer related (like medical, jet engines, locomotives, etc.)
i would say their most profitable division in terms of margin percentage (and almost never mentioned) is their licensing division. stuff you see that are GE and on the retail shelf are most likely NOT made by GE. the problem is that companies like JASCO are ruining the GE brand with cheap shit and diluting the brand image, making it really hard on other licensees to position their GE branded products better.
