Default Samsung says to Apple take your best shot?

Are people stupid or just full of bravado?

First the Palm CEO says he's not concerned about Apple entering the smartphone market and now the head of Samsung's NA telecom division says he welcomes Apple's entry into the phone market because it will show off how much better Samsung's music phones are.

http://macdailynews.com/index.php/we...omments/11955/

"Samsung hopes its strategy of selling a wide variety of products will pay off in winning over the diverse U.S. customer base. One of the key capabilities is music. Sohn said he looks forward to Apple Computer Inc.'s (AAPL) launch of its iPhones because it gives Samsung the chance to tout its own lineup of music phones."

If you are anywhere near these idiots do yourself a favor and back away.

did you expect samsung to say, "we are currently shaking in our boots"?

besides, there is no way to tell which company will take over the market until they both go at it.

I wouldn't mind being near them or having some of what they have.

IMO, of course they'd have to say, "Bring it on!" instead of "No! You're gonna take away our sales."

If they were smart they would say nothing. As the CEO or top executive do you really want to taunt and motivate your competitors? Do you want to say that what could be product of the year, the hottest thing to hit the cell phone market since the razr, is a welcomed competitor?

You say nothing. If asked you say that you're confident in your products and in your companies ability to deliver quality products now and in the future. You don't say bring it.

I'm only half serious but still the things these people say makes me laugh.

IMO, iPhone is not gonna have a fraction of success iPod had. iPod revolutionalized the market when digital players were scarce. As for cell phones, there are like thousands of them now and a lot of nice ones, from Samsung, Nokia, RIM, etc. iPhone will have a tough competition. iPhone is coming in when the cell phone market is well established already. It's not the same as when iPod came out. Have you seen the upper-scale phones from Nokia and Samsung? Nice! With that said, I'm sure iPhone will do good, just won't dominate.

That's exactly my point. Telling your opponents to "Bring it" is the sort of thing GWB would do. Just dumb IMO.

While I agree that it's not wise or even professional to say "Bring it!", but I also see that iPhone won't have dramatically huge effect in the market, hence those CEOs need not get headaches over. It will take away sales from others, but not enough for those companies to get headaches over it.
