Bike Carbs...
So I have a new bike, a 2001 Suzuki Volusia 800... with a carborator. and i'm having a little trouble with it. First off before I messed with it, the bike refused to idle with out the choke on, and it would sputter at low throttle settings, such as when you frist get the bike moving or when cruzing at low speeds. The Factory service manual (and some friends) said clean to the pilot and main jet, so I pulled the carb and cleaned the jets. no big deal. NOW, with every thing back on the bike I cant get it to Start, or rather I can get it to "start" but only with half throttle on and it sputters horriblly + its spewes grey/white smoke...
So what did I do wrong?
So what did I do wrong?
Ouch. When I hear white/grey smoke in a water cooled machine I immediately think head gasket. Other things to check that might cause a crappy idle, sputtering and a lack of power include vacuum leaks and timing. I'd also check the plugs and replace as needed. Don't know what ignition system you have in that thing but check the plug wires and any connections to coil packs etc.
