Look in to Boyd gaming.. I believe they are looking for some network techs. May not be an admin, but its a foot in the door.

i dont want to burst your bubble but besides casinos and mcdonalds, the job market is fairly rough out here. I moved out here for my programming job. my job is supposedly stable but i know if something happened id be packing and moving back to LA where there is a ton of IT jobs. SD and OC county is pretty solid too.

keep your chin up though. you might get lucky. check on craigslist.

Speaking from experience, network jobs @ casinos tend to suck. All of the casinos run VERY small IT staff (the luxor has a total of 6 people on the entire IT staff, paris hotel has no dedicated people but relies on what used to be park place corporate, etc.).

FWIW I do network engineering and I work for a company out of california but live here

Thanks for the input guys. It just appears that here in Southern cali (Orange County, San Diego and LA areas) all people are looking for IT people with like 7 years experience and like 30 degrees. There doesnt seem to be an openings for a guy who wants to get his foot in the door or run a small network.

I spent many years in NYC running the IT depts of smaller companies. Those types of hobs are not usually advertised but rather filled through the contacts of those who run/own the company. It's who you know...
