It's really a tough price range to shop. Especially a 2-door that's quicker stock than the S. M3 is about the only thing out there besides maybe, like JP said, a used Porsche

I wouldn't get an M3. I looked at one, almost bought it as a daily driver and keep the S. But, it just didn't tickle me that much.

You won't be able to match the nimbleness of the S, unless you get a Miata or something like that.

Build the motor. I'm not worried at all about my diff, axles, or anything. Especially with how nice your car looks, you will hate it when you get rid of it.

But, if you want to follow the S2ki trend of buying an M3, and join the 1,000's of soccer moms here that drive them, go ahead.

I wasnt worried about my axles until I started talking to people. If I kept the car I would replace the diff with the skyline diff and im looking at money forever. I havent driven the M. Im going to drive one probably tomorrow night or so. If I dont like them, then I wont buy one.

just fix your f**kin car and shut up before i smack you. countless hours spent getting it done, ultimate never gonna have again hookups on sponsorships, it looks sick as hell, and now, just because of one lil setback.. throw in the towel? WTF!!!
dude, ive been around you long enough to know, you dont drive your car hard enough to break parts. a supercharger doesnt magically give you 300 ft lbs of torque, stump pulling s2k. you never even launch your car, how are you gonna break diff and axles?
id say you need to check your finances, if you have enough, pull it, and put rods pistons and studs and put it back in. then lets figure out WHY it broke. either it was ready to anyways, or management is an issue, and it will do it again. not hard to figure out either way. or put a stock motor back in, pull the SC, and go back to NA. trade the blower for some more trick stuff you want, or for a new motor. there are so many options its not funny. i wont even go into the M3 thing. you know my stance on german cars, i work on them all day.
you will lose your ass if you try and sell that car now. im sure it will bring a decent stack of coins, but not what its worth.
anyways, as always use my blunt opinion as an asset. and whatever road you take, we will all still be homies. late

Just a couple of random thoughts and ideas....

A used M3 would make a great daily driver but the driving experiance is a whole other world than the S. It is sporty but the shifter and clutch are well how do I put this....sub par? The SMG is frickin sweet! I personally wouldn't mind an SMG with some nice rims, a very small drop on H&R coilovers, and a subtle exhaust for a daily driver. Never as my racecar though.

A used Carrera is also possible in your price range. With the 997's out the older body has came down in price quite a bit. Jimmy's mom picked up a Carrera convt for herself and a couple of weekends ago we took it for a spin. It's definatly more of a refined sports car than the S. The heated seats were a great touch for those top down night drives.

A slightly used Boxster S would probably be where I'd look. It's a fun car to drive and a used one in your price range shouldn't have too many miles.

I also think the BMW 330 coupe with the sports package is an awesome car and you can buy it new in that price range. Besides the M3 I'd say it's the best luxary sports coupe out there, it may be slower than the S but the torque makes it very easy to drive. It would make an awesome daily driver and since you can get it brand new I think all maintence is covered for the first couple of years, but dont' quote me on that.

Another option if you still want a sports car is a used NSX. For the performance the car is still highly overpriced but you do get Honda reliability (I've seen many of them run well over 125k), it's rare, and it still looks great.

You know its funny you post as I was just thinking about what you would be posting about M3s. I just am sick of not driving the car. If I put it back together for me, it would be built. Figure $7k to build the motor how I want it done. Then figure another $3k on top of that for EMS and tuning. Youre at $10k right there. I dont want to drop another $10k into a car ive already put $30k+ into. It will never be able to be a daily driver at 500whp. And, Ill never be satisfied. I just want a nice car and the M3 does that for me.
