How about radar detectors? Are those legal? I'm aware that a police scanner is illegal, but I'm not sure about the detector.

I think radar detectors are illegal only for commercial vehicles, but I'm not positive.

Radar detectors are legal in Nevada for personal use vehicles. In California, radar detectors are legal also, but it is illegal to have anything attatched (suction cupped) to the windshield ie radar detectors, gps, satelite radios etc.

Wow. Just, wow. I don't know about Canada, but there are 3 states in the US with a city named Reno: Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Nebraska.
So how do you like living back east? Welcome to the Nevada forum. Visiting the westcoast anytime soon? btw, that reminds me of the peculiar city up north populated only by males called Meno. Its hella close to Lake Tahoe. Beware of the strange laws that are legislated there. I would not dare to cross into the city limits. It is not recommended. Maybe if you are a black belt, handy with firearms and carry an Ak, have an army or unless you like to throat rooster. I have heard horror stories of men getting their assholes torn there. For some reason women are forbidden. The legend states that there are no populated cities within an 100 mile radius of the city.

It looks like you didn't quote my post correctly. I said Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Nevada, not Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Nebraska. The only reason why I know Pennsylvania and Ohio have a city named Reno was because I typed Reno only on Weather.com to get some weather forecasts, and the results came back with 3 Reno's.

The Valentine V1 and Passpost 8500 seem to be the 2 most popular choices with the owners here on this site. Both are $300+. Check those out.
